im a programmer and i can say, for the hackers, it should be possible to create an offline patch for the game. But hackers might not do it if its not worth their time.
If i was good at hacking, i would make something to make the game playable on LAN. #justsaying

I expect someone out there will be able to take the programming of this game and make it accessible for offline use only. It's happened with alot of Online only games in the past, it probably will be done again here.

this game can not be made to play offline plain and simple you can wish as much as you like but it wont happen

for all you know, this game could be executing everything serverside with minimal client output.
