I recently sold my old website script/design to someone who used it for their metin2 site. Chia sent a DMCA notice to the ovh hosted server and ovh is giving them 2 weeks to collect their files (oh I love how when hosts get DMCA letters they let the users make a backup of the files
). I didn't understand how this brand new server already got harassed by chia but not other servers which are popular and have been on a long time.I was wondering why some friends of mine who run various servers do not get harassed by chia's shenanigans. One person told me that he only goes after servers that are oldschool, and if you're running high level servers (ie: 127, 254) with all that new overpowered crap that he won't shut them down. And if you take a look that seems like it's actually the case. I won't mention the servers but people who either play the game (you) or people who have friends who run servers (me) should know pretty well which I talk about. My friend who told me this was told by one of the GMs of SG (so the guy claimed).Quote:

The most interesting part of all of this is that Chia doesn't actually own a copyright to the Metin2 files, YMIR does. Chia is just the CEO of TEC-Interactive, who has rights to publish Metin2 in SINGAPORE. However, most hosts generally don't like "illegal activity" on their network/servers so they don't bother to find out the facts and figure out that Chia doesn't actually have any rights to do what he does.... so the host of course shuts you down.
I personally have no interest in servers anymore for a good number of reasons (wow freebsd is garbage too!), aside from one reason being I know how much chia has jealousy issue with me and that's why he singled my server out when he started this whole venture. But, I can recommend this host for people looking to avoid Chia's jealous rages:
. Read up about them online and you will see why. You can even contact them and tell them exactly what you want to do and they will tell you that they won't shut it down no matter what he says. The exceptions are you can't host child porn or spam, but none of you should be doing that if you run metin2 servers right?Another question I ask is why only chia? Is he the only one who gives a crap enough about officials to bother shutting privates down? Is it the lack of care that other publishers have? Or do the other publishers only want to do things "legit", by not sending out DMCA shutdown requests when they have no permission to do so? It's odd how gameforge used to do it but doesn't anymore (GF also is just a publisher), and odd how Z8 never does it nor any of the other publishers. And hey, wonder why GF stopped doing it? Maybe they found out they are just the publisher, and don't actually own a copyright to Metin2.
Theoretically for the fanatics who really like the game, you could set something up with completely different images, animations, names, and other stuff.. and run a "legal version" of a "metin2 clone". Think about that crappy Combat Arms that was released years ago, now think about all the other crappy free shooters that came out like CrossFire and others which are just like the game with slight variances. They all have terrible hitboxes, and communities full of 800 ping BR laggers, they are itemshop run and even when people waste money in itemshop they are destroyed by skilled players. They all have terrible graphics and minimal settings available, you get kicked from your own rooms for being too good but can't kick someone from your room if you want to. Funny how they kick skilled players but let people stand in spawn and shoot everyone with a hack that lets them shoot people through everything in the map, or let people stay who shoot knives from their guns. Players have no control over the servers as they don't get to run them on their own, they just make a virtual room and people join it. Pretty lame, real shooters date back to HL/Q3/Unreal engine games. Yes COD series and BF series can be seen as "real shooters" as crappy as the more recent ones are..
So it would be nice to see an epic struggle of pserver community against chia, let's see some more fights and arguments. I wanna see chia go back on liquiron and cry more after he said he'd never return and instructed his team not to. I wanna see pserver owners rage and moan about chia shutting them down and go spam his facebook again like they did last time. Let's see some action!
let's get some humor going here. Everything is so dull lately, we need some people to take a stand against chia and his jealous fits of rage. It's only making it more obvious that he's truly jealous when he only shuts off servers "like his". So good luck everyone - Let the fanboy rages commence.
