Application [Escape From Tarkov, PUBG, R6S]
Dear elitepvpers community,
I'm hughjanus0, but my real name is Sam, and I am applying to be a Moderator for the Escape From Tarkov, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds and Rainbow Six Siege sections. I'm currently majoring in Computer Science and Software Development at university, and have had a passion for video games for as long as I can remember. In my freetime I like to workout, watch livestreams and Youtube videos, play video games and of course, browse elitepvpers!
My experience with the sections' topics:- Escape From Tarkov: When it comes to EFT, I have been playing this game for three years, since it first gained traction in it's early days. I've played in every wipe the game has had, and have reached endgame in most wipes (max traders and hideout, Kappa container, etc.) I've also gotten comfortable in the community for EFT, and this is shown through most of my posts being made in this section.
- PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds: PUBG is my favorite battle royale of all time, and I spent so much time on this game with my friends when it first came out, and ultimately loved the game so much that I played solo's until I was ranked 10th in North America at one point for it. This is definitely one of my best achievements in any video game, if not the best achievement that I'm very proud of.
- Rainbow Six Siege: I've been playing Rainbow Six Siege since 2015, when I first started playing on Xbox with my friends, and then when we transitioned to PC gaming in 2017, I enjoyed it even more. I reached Diamond in ranked a few months ago, after taking a long break from the game to explore some other games.
Why I am the right candidate:
I believe I am the right candidate for these forums as I have had many years of experience with each of these games, and have a strong passion for them and their communities. As a guardian, I have noticed that posts I report in these forums will sometimes take multiple days to be handled, and as mentioned earlier, as someone who spends a lot of time on elitepvpers making proper reports, I believe that I would make a great active moderator for these forums.
I understand that I am lacking the 300 post guideline (at the moment, 284 posts) to apply as a moderator, but I feel that all of my posts are valuable, meaningful posts that provide great insight and aren't "spam"
Thank you for reading my application, and thank you for your time,
hughjanus0

Hi Hughjanus0,
Given that the cult currently sells products for each of these games, and advertises these threads under another admins account, what will you be doing to ensure you are not bias in the way you handle your competitors threads and posts?
https://www.elitepvpers.com/forum/me...-the-cult.html
While it may seem oddly specific, @ Icetea for example does not currently sell for these games and has remained unbias and reasonable with his intentions and actions.

Hey Dep, thanks for bringing this up as this is a very valid question. I believe that I am already not biased when it comes to competition on EPVP, as I haven't pushed any of thecult's products directly in a post dating back to mid December. Actually I've found that in some of my posts since then, I've recommended products sold by other providers, even you, of which I've had good experiences with. I've also gone out of my way to test and write vouches on products for some of these other sellers, even while being with thecult.
More so, when it comes to the signature and user title on my EPVP profile, I am planning on reducing the appearance of my affiliation with thecult to stay in accordance with what I said above. Especially as we have stopped bumping our threads on the profile you have linked, I see it reasonable to tone down or potentially remove the branding entirely from my profile.

In no way am I trying to be petty at all. It is a genuine concern. I do agree that you have been mature and reasonable with your posts.

Oh I don't think you were petty at all! I'm sorry if my response made it seem like that. I'm really glad you brought the matter up actually as others have asked me about it, so it needed to be addressed. Thank you as well for the kind words!

Well, I have to say, I enjoyed reading your application.
I can't say that much, due to not being active in those sections, but from what I can say is that you are both, mature and friendly and I guess that you fit this position. I would say, keep posting and helping out, just to prove you will be active there.
Furthermore, I think that we don't have to give it a few weeks, or even months, or perhaps even longer, as I did, just to see what's about your reporting and posting wise; you are a beast anyway!
Be that as it may, good luck, and my vote is totally a Yes!
BR
Icetea

You look like a reasonable person with much knowledge for the section you applied for.

It's good that this question comes up. I would like to share my point of view on that.
From various forums, I know, that the recruitment of involved users can have huge advantages in regards to domain specific problems. It is also not necessarily negative that applicants are directly or indirectly involved in the Black Market. If there are conflicts of interest or biased moderation decisions, sooner or later complaints of users will arise and quickly draw attention to the problem. It's really difficult to hide malicous intentions for a long time. The more people are involved in a social structure, the faster such intentions become visible. At the end of the day, all of us are here for very specific reasons. It should be in everyone's interest that things are done fairly here.
Edit: As a Guardian hughjanus is doing his job well. So far, I haven't seen anything worrisome in that matter.

Hughjanus0 generates an insane number of reports. He does an excellent job, and the majority of his reports are correct.
He appears to be knowledgeable about both BM and non-BM section rules.
Strong Yes from me.
