[Application] PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds
Hi all,
My name is lokki123, I have been a long-time member here on elitepvpers and I am hereby applying for a position as moderator on the sub; PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds.
Who am I?
I am a 23 year old Dutch (neighbour of germany )economic student that studies Finance, Corporate finance and Investment banking. Soon I am starting with my Master thesis. In my free time I am an avid gamer. I like playing games like Overwatch, a casual game of Hearthstone and last but not least Playerunknown's Battlegrounds. Here on elitepvpers my trading activities have been very wide-spread, ranging from being a LoL diamond booster (during s2-s3) to trading in cs:go keys or (currently) hearthstone packs.
Enough about me!
Moderation section
I would like to moderate the Playerunknowns Battleground section (i'll call it PUB)
If you are up-to-date with which games are hot, you are most-likely aware that PUB has been skyrocketing as it comes to popularity. This can be mostly thanked to big streamers like Summit1G and JoshOG that have been playing this game since day 1, boosting the amount of attention it received.
But the game is also simply put; good.
It's concept is simple in it's essence, drop a bunch of players on a map, let them be able to gather supplies (med kits, weapons, armor) and fight till their death. Whoever survives is the winner. Pretty much just like entertainment has always been; think about the Roman Empire with it's gladiator fights, very similar.
With every game that's very competetive a problem arises; some people want to cheat. They want to be able to win, and if they have to, let it be with an unfair advantage. If you go to the you will instantly notice a lot of threads advertising or looking for cheats.
Is this a problem? It can certainly be if not being moderate properly and timely. Currently a lot of new members come to elitepvpers to find PUB cheats and very easily fall for scams. People pretend to have a legit cheat and empty a couple people's pockets for an easy quick buck. Obviously we don't want these pratices to happen on elitepvpers, which brings me to the next section
What makes me suitable?
Let me start off by just giving a couple of points that I (sort of) master, which I find a necessity for a moderator:
-Being able to speak/write english on a decent level
-Being polite and mannered at all times.
-Being professional and strict
-Being active and communicative
-Being trustful
On my study I have learned to write and speak english properly. Also I learned to be communicative, mannered and polite. When you work in a group on a certain project (for example creating a fictional portofolio, or valuing a company or IPO) you have to utilize all these skills in order to succeed.
Also if you have made use of my services in the past, and spoke with me on skype, you know how professional and mannered I am at all times.
In the years I have been active here on elitepvpers I have also proven to be trustful. My tbm count and clean record speaks for itself.
The points above however are not PUB specific, they hold as requirements for a moderator in general.
But what makes me suitable for PUB specifically?
I have over 2 days of play-time in PUB making me very knowledgeable and (obviously) interested in the the game itself. I have also always interested myself in cheats and coding in a general sense. Since cheats are currently the bread and butter of the section it's something I can easily relate to (even though I do realise that I won't be checking the cheats myself, it's dereddy's job).
Now the following is something I definitely want to throw on here;
Last year the OW section was in the situation as the PUB is in now. Lot's of cheat threads of which 99% were fake. However , as he, I am still very confident and see this as a fact, boosted tbm's and feedback. I have been since day one and made a substantial report and consistenly reported the duplicate threads he made after his original thread got closed by due to him having to give proof of an actual legit (this was before the 'cheats need to get verified system' was introduced)
In the end the user finally got banned, and soon after elitepvpers introduced the rule that cheats will now have to be verified before being allowed to sell on elitepvpers (similar to receipts having to be validated of game codes etc).
Maybe some of the mods can remember the Plug case and hopefully also my efforts. If I would happen to become the moderator of the PUB's section i'll make sure it's tidy and clean, and cheat threads get closed for verification as soon as possible to avoid unknowing newcomes to fall for scammers.
------------------------------------
That was my application, hopefully it was a nice read and of course I hope I make a chance of becoming the next PUB's moderator!

Come on people, every day the PUB trading section stays unmonitered/unmoderated people are going to get scammed. This seriously needs some attention as soon as possible.

The PUBG section is not related to the PUBG trading section, the trading section belongs to the black market.

Which means?
I can't apply for moderator of a black market specific trading section?
Because go take a look on the PUB trading section yourself, are doing a very poor job currently. No inspection of cheats, scammer accusation threads, and a bunch of other stuff.
It's everything but moderated.

Nope (I guess).
However, you could try reporting. They will definitely take care of them.

I have already been reporting every single thread that needs to be looked at the last couple days.
An issue is that sometimes a thread is closed, however it's not clear wether the thread got closed by a moderator because the cheat needs to get verified or wether the thread starter manually closed it. A solution in this case would be that the moderator drops a reply in the thread stating that they closed the thread.

Just in case they haven't seen this already. But I am sure if your reports have been processed they'd have left a reply if necessary. Perhaps contact them via pms or wait until they see this issue.
A complaint thread could also be suitable for having a detailed reply from the staff. I don't know about the section's activity but, if the problem is serious, I am sure they will take actions asap.

There are currently no open reports in the PUBG Trading section.
I can't see the reports in the normal PUBG section, so I can't give any information about that.

That's great to hear. I see most of the cheat seller's threads are closed. However it would be nice to leave a public comment with why you are closing the thread.
This way people that come to elitepvpers and check these threads can see a moderator closed them. Currently people might not even notice it's closed or why it's closed.
This probaly doesn't belong here; but the verification of cheats could definitely use an overhaul.
Currently it leaves section full of spam. Removing instead of closing threads would solve this issue, and getting a sort of 'cheat is verified' stamp or whatever from dereddy would allow threads to remain and not get removed.
Just look how unorganized and trashy the trading section looks right now.
Every thread I circled seems to be not a verified cheat seller (and most-likely a scammer)

I didnīt closed the thread personally, but leaving a message with the reason is our normal way and the moderator who closed the thread made a mistake. I will talk to my colleagues about that.

Closed threads will get away from the first page when there are new threads or pushed threads. So its only a matter of time.
We work on improving the hack verification because Eddy hasn't that bus time to do all the work.

Thanks for the reply!
It may not be a one-man job indeed, verifying all these cheats.
Since the trading section is not in need of a moderator, my application still stands for the PUB-section (so just not the trading section).
It's still fairly in-active, but could already use some moderation!

It's a new forum with barrely any threads. You expect people to spam replies to look more active? I check it daily. Sadly none of the current threads are interesting enough to reply.
'Not being active, nope', seems to be your go-to reply in the joining e-pvp section. A moderator needs to moderate and overview, not spamming threads with meaningless replies. I have been reporting in the PUB section and a lot in the PUB trading section. So don't judge someone's activity by post count.

Well, you just answered the question - do we need a mod just for that section?
As you are reporting those threads/posts there should be someone taking care of it asap.
Probably a Guardian-Badge would suit you better.

You are right, it might not need a mod, but it doesn't hurt having one already either. Also I wasn't aware that 'outside' mods also see these reports.
No idea when a guardian-badge is being handed out.
Maybe off-topic: I wonder though, now dereddy retired, who is doing the inspection of cheats??
Nvm, it's now. Probaly should get updated asap in the just letting you know, @
EDIT: its changed, sweet!
