There is a way. Although right now, since there is no UCE out there, it is impossible. What you would do is you would find the address that holds the state in which the necklace upgrade system is in:
0 - menu asking if you want to upgrade and shows consequences of failure
1 - upgrading (when elena is doing here magic - the animation)
2 - success menu (when elena is successful, and the menu says upgrade success)
3 - failure menu (when elena has failed, and the menu says upgrade failed)
basically, once you find the address, you freeze it to 0. Then, when the animation comes up, simply press ESC, and the animation will stop and you will see the necklace either changed degraded or upgraded.
