It's a dumb one. It just like...makes a bump sound, very useless. Not loud at all. We need like a fricken alarm clock sound. Something that just chills your bones lol.

I'll tell you my Ultra Super Secret trick that no one knows.....

Turn down the Music Volume and Sound effects (ALL THE WAY)

No buff sounds
but calls still work

Indeed.. + that we need too push a buton on our keyboard to make the sound stop!

well i think u can replace the sound file to one that u like as long as its the same format. so u could prolly replace the beep with a song if u like.

i know this thread is old but, if you dont want Calls you can always try, Quiet Calls, Requires changing .Dats... but it works

Quote:
I'm sure EVERYONE here's had a time where they were about to flip out due to the game's calls, where there's been nothing but people Spamming calls left and right for no reason whatsoever.. oh wait... I FOUND TEH PENNYZ! <call>

i've decided to take a break from making menu skins and make a solution to this. Hopefully this'll keep people from putting their fist through their monitor next time they hear a call.

(8,615KB)
Megaupload

and for the main menu march theme, Quiet Marches (58,716KB)
Megaupload
now includes stepped volumes for FFXI/Zilart/CoP installations

these are modified files of the original calls made quieter... MUCH quieter. You no longer get your ears blasted out when someone does call1.

there are 6 sets of files, 0 which are the original files, normal volume, for backup. -5, -10, -15, and -20. -5 being a small step quieter than the original files. and it progressively gets quieter to -20. And then there is OFF. OFF is a set of calls made from 1 second of silence, which conserves space and makes absolutely no sound when a call is entered.
calls 14-21 are naturally quiet and become hard to hear in the -15 and -20 sets.
I personally reccomend calls 0-13 from -15 and the regular 14-21
or
calls 0-13 from -20 and 14-21 from -5.

-Please be responsible with the OFF set, calls are there and used for a purpose, to get your attention when it is needed. I've included this set for times when people are dealing with absolute noobs (basically it was designed for the dunes)

Instructions on where to place everything are in the readme

Call files cannot be "Hot Swapped" the files are cached and are only refreshed by reloading FFXI.
And if you don't want to hear FFXI at all, turn the volume down on the game...... in options, or you could inlcude a <call> in your macro when you claim NM... if all else fails, get a sound manager....

MrArgus / NPC.exe still working?
02/17/2007 - Final Fantasy XI - 4 Replies
I'm having trouble getting NPC.exe to display NMs and behave properly. When I used this tool in the past it would smoothly list the surrounding NPCs and update the list whenever their health changed. Now it scrolls around erratically and npcs list with random looking health percentages like 24%, 37% and sometimes over 100% (207% etc). NPC names do show up correctly. Is this the result of a bad offset or is NPC.exe aging?
