While going through FFXITool, I came across something odd. There are .dat files which contain all the dialogue and messages in any given region both in English and Japanese. They are separate files depending on language. Here is the interesting part, I don't have the NA version installed on my computer. FFXITool reads only the .dats installed. That means, the ability to read English text is already in the files!
Example:
Lower Jeuno JP text - abc.dat
Lower Jeuno EN text - 123.dat
The theory goes, if I rename 123.dat into abc.dat and replace the original, my client will read the info from the new abc.dat which has the same text except in English. The end result should be the ability to type in Japanese, yet still read everything in English. I'm sure there are plenty of importers (those that are still around) and people with various Japanese language knowledge who would want this.
