has anyone got a comprehensive guide or useful tips for lowering chance of bans?

Only loot or fight when you have to. Don't run around the map just following people and if you're on a brand new account def avoid people unless they walk into you. If you wanna rage cheat you will get the hammer and if you want to play legit just use common sense.

Are looting patterns in any way related to bans? I don’t get what you mean by only loot if you have to. Also the following thing. If I followed someone but killed them in a way which looks legit to them will this still increase my risk? I guess devs investigate players ?

Just watch the KD and use a KD dropper to tank your surv rate as well. You'll be fine just play with a head still.
