Why is Bigpoint so stupid that they won’t make a Classic server?

We’re kind of seeing a bunch of games come back to life through their “Classic” versions. Is DarkOrbit ever going to do this officially? Like, are they seriously stupid enough not to realize that private servers or crappy copies trying to replicate the game at its peak have more actual players than the official version? It makes absolutely no sense that they haven’t done anything about it. Personally, I’d 100% come back to play.

They’ve already said it’s a possibility, but right now they don’t even have their new client fully operational—let alone give the green light to a new project.

Corporate Interests vs Player Interests. The corporations want exponential growth and they are even willing to risk losing it all. Profit is not enough anymore to them. Players want a good game and are willing to pay but the Corpos want every last penny. This conflict is why DO lost 99% of players and why so many modern games suck. I do not trust BP to make a decent classic server at this point. They never wanted to do it because they are greedy and want increasing profit instead of "just" profit. So they would rather do nothing.
We had great old school servers made by the community and some alternative servers like Andromeda or my favourite Uber Orbit V2. Really sad that they went offline. If there was a way to bring them back and guarantee that they stay online forever.... I would help but I am bad at coding. I just know that there is a spot for a decent old school server without the new stuff.

I suggested this idea on the French DarkOrbit forum several years ago. The idea was passed on, but nothing concrete has ever been announced… Blizzard did it well with World of Warcraft and it was a huge success; with DarkOrbit, will it be just as big a success and will it bring in enough money for them to ensure the game is as full of players as it used to be? We’ll see what the future holds!
