[Tutorial] Range Indicator

This range indicator will show you the range of your lasers so you can attack NPCs without getting hit back (since normally NPCs have a shorter attack range). The tool is quite handy if you are fighting NPCs with high power or if you have to do a gate and dont feel like concentrating too much. I also used it before i got ufe to do BBK and uber map.

So the idea came to me in the Tunnel of Terror Gate in 2015. I noticed that the light shining in front of ship is also the range of your lasers. So taking screenshots of your ship in every direction should give you an idea of what your range is. This changes from person to person depending on your screen resolution and other factors.

What you will need:
adobe photoshop (or other image editing software)
Custom Desktop Logo 2.2 []
Background quality above 'Low'

Step 1:
Go in ToT gate. clear all waves but dont jump to next map. find a spot where background is mostly blue in all directions (you cant see light when shined on empty black space).

Step 2:
position your ship facing up. take a screen shot. paste in paint or whatever and save. do that at least 3 more times, facing right, down, and left. i took screen shots every half position to have a more clear overall image to work with.

Step 3:
put all screenshots in one document in photoshop. select all layers and change blending mode from normal to lighten. now you can see your laser range.

now we need to get the eclipse tool and fit it right around the edge of the light.

Step 5:
hide/remove everything so only eclipse is showing with transparent background. Trim canvas. save as PNG in an empty folder.

Step 6:
download, install, and open Custom Desktop Logo 2.2

Step 7:
change image folder to where you saved your PNG

Step 8:
go to x-1 map and shoot npc to adjust position and size if needed. change opacity to 30
