I don't think so. Real DarkOrbit players will keep playing DarkOrbit. Therefore accounts selling will be the same as before. You see, it's a lot harder to "ruin" a business. It has many factors and a new game could be one, but this exact game doesn't seem to be able to ruin that business.
DarkOrbit took over 7 years to be made at the point it is now, even though the DarkOrbit developer team is huge and people are getting paid to work. And this game is a "free" one. It is not supported by a huge company like BigPoint. It'll take a lot of time for it to become a good game without bugs. It might take years just to make the game actually playable.
Lastly, DarkOrbit is in a weird situation. It'll either die or "come back". The new things are awesome and there are constantly new players. The changes are good. But there's still a lot to be changed and even if they change some of the things there will be people that won't be happy with the changes. BigPoint would need to invest more in the game for marketing, in order to get more new players. And that's a huge risk, as nothing can guarantee them success.
In my opinion DarkOrbit will keep on dying. And probably, after a few years, they'll shut it down, as the incomes won't be enough to cover the dev team and everything.
