There are 3 saves that you might want to edit:
DO2.sav
data.sav
savegame.sav
Use notepad++

shield_engineering drops your shield to 2 (if you have a shield in your ship/drones)
Do not upgrade it in your pilotsheet

Energy Transfer has been removed a couple of updates ago.

It does not. You're probably using Moth formation, it will decrease your shield.

open them with notepad++, in one of them you will find "Uridium". Edit it as you want (Putting too much uridium could crash the game)

I didn't have these files, and what I did is:
1) Download 5.3 version and the AutoUpdater
2) Extract 5.3 version on my desktop and the AutoUpdater in the folder that contains 5.3 version
3) Launch the AutoUpdater, waiting for the update to be done
4) Launch the game, press New Game, enter my name, etc, then leave it
5) And the files appeared! :O
