he cannot sell anything. ask for donations is ok i guess, since it is not related to the pserver. if you sell something related to your pserver, you get sued...
Just for all of you out there wondering about how the system will work regarding uridium and also some issues with copyright.
The server will be free to play. This means absolutely NO in-game currency or "packages" will be available for purchase with real money. I am thinking of a way to offer premium, and I think I will make it available for uridium (eg. you buy a month of premium with X amount of uri). This is to limit the amount of copyright infringing actions I would be committing, as in the eyes of the law, selling copyrighted material is a much bigger deal than distributing it for free. That being said, almost 50% of the files used in this version are non-existing in the current version of DarkOrbit. Also, per Australian law, copyright is only held for a certain amount of years after a product/item is discontinued. I want to work with BigPoint regarding copyright in the future, and whilst I won't be handing over operation to them, it would be nice to be able to run the server with their permission where we get to decide what happens under the proviso that BigPoint are happy with it (my only issue I beleive that bigpoint would have is making sure our version of the game doesn't give theirs a bad name or reputation).
Alien rewards are most likely going to stay the same, whilst Uridium items will most likely scaled down in pricing to make it easier to obtain them.
Just to make it clear, I am in no way laughing at bigpoint, or rubbing this in their face. I do not want to make this look like I am doing it to annoy them and given the opportunity would love to make this work with them (obtaining copyright permissions etc.). He can't charge money for items like Weapons/Ammo/Premium he will get sued, read his posts. Everything will be much cheaper and everything will cost Uri and Credits, from what he was thinking, so Premium will also be a set URI price. Tho I honestly think having a high rates server is more fun and easier since stuff cost so much just make it x5 or x10 or even more so that it matches the prices well, if you think about it, at first it will still take time but not to much time.
Price is not really important , First finish building
He can change that uridium earning amount by taking poll
Important is independence server , not controlled by Bigpoint
