Don't you all realize that if he charged for Uri he could get in really really big trouble, if it is a P server it needs to have high rates like 5-10x or more think about it that is only 1280uri per Bk now it would still takes 100s of BKs just to get a gate built, also the fact that it took years to get everything we had in Uri wars now if it is say 2x rates that would still take forever, just my thoughts on this.

Yeah because there aren't 1000 WoW servers out there lol it's not a big deal, once the code and script and such are out on the web it won't be stopped, internet 101 once something is on the internet it is never gone.

Hey guys im just gonna throw a few things out there for JD and everyone to think about.

JD for starters i saw your Project and well.. YOU ARE A GOD!!

1. If this is going to be a private server then it is not recommended to charge money for ingame currency or premium advantages, HOWEVER, You can setup a Paypal ''Donations Page'' and people who think your incredibly awesome will donate to keep your server alive, you can use those donations to either increase server connectivity or increase RAM and such, however u decide.

2. I Strongly recommend also that you please please, lower some of the [Elite] Items. For example Goliath battlecruiser from 80k to like 30 or 40k or even lower. also increase the rewards rates from quests and NPC kills. Strueners give 1 uri, increase by 5x its 5 then. BBK or boss Kristallon gives 512 uridium, increase that by 5x and thats like 2500+ uridium. Please do keep the Trade page though xD. i love bidding credits on lots of things ^^

3. im only asking to be curious but. I know some people on here like the way the ships look now but what about the old styles of the ships like old client? when the old client got wiped from bugpoints servers they still had the old style ships in the ''new'' client and even then it had pilot points and such. just maybe possible to use the old ships no? or at least old vengy/goli.

4. Jd you have given us so much hope and filled our hearts with happiness by doing this project. I only ask You consider what i have posted here today as well as everyone else please consider what i say. Also NO BOTTERS OR HACKERS PLEASE!!

Just for all of you out there wondering about how the system will work regarding uridium and also some issues with copyright.

The server will be free to play. This means absolutely NO in-game currency or "packages" will be available for purchase with real money. I am thinking of a way to offer premium, and I think I will make it available for uridium (eg. you buy a month of premium with X amount of uri). This is to limit the amount of copyright infringing actions I would be committing, as in the eyes of the law, selling copyrighted material is a much bigger deal than distributing it for free. That being said, almost 50% of the files used in this version are non-existing in the current version of DarkOrbit. Also, per Australian law, copyright is only held for a certain amount of years after a product/item is discontinued. I want to work with BigPoint regarding copyright in the future, and whilst I won't be handing over operation to them, it would be nice to be able to run the server with their permission where we get to decide what happens under the proviso that BigPoint are happy with it (my only issue I beleive that bigpoint would have is making sure our version of the game doesn't give theirs a bad name or reputation).

Alien rewards are most likely going to stay the same, whilst Uridium items will most likely scaled down in pricing to make it easier to obtain them.

Just to make it clear, I am in no way laughing at bigpoint, or rubbing this in their face. I do not want to make this look like I am doing it to annoy them and given the opportunity would love to make this work with them (obtaining copyright permissions etc.).
