It depends on many factors.
1) if you have many and dont know where to spend them ,sure why not
2) what you are after.
f.e. : Do you use x4 because you need CREDITS so bad?
Do you use x4 because you need URIDIUM fast?
Do you use x4 because you are going for RANK ?
3) Are you bored of shooting with x1,x2,x3?
Well in my opinion,as you said that x6 is full of warclans the only thing worth shooting in x7 is Boss Kristallon.Now is it worth shooting it with x4?
Well , if you fast farming it with the pet locator it is somehow of a benefit but still... meh not really..
I would advise you to farm on 4-5 uber saimons uber mordons lordakia that dont neccesarily need to use x4( depends on your ship).
Its a better way of uridium honor and rankpoints overall.
If you have problem with the enemies then yeah , go back to x7 and kill BK.
Using x4 is always a faster way to killing things but you must take in consideration the time,the cost of ammo, and the reward you earn individually from any npc you kill.

To sum it up, the use x4 in depends solely on the ambitions you have at that particular moment on the game.
