Botting

ok so my char is in moobox quest and im botting to get tokens, along comes an idiot, pks me and takes my tokens plus a met i found. Now i usually just get on with it and start again but on this occasion i sit and think about it and i guess my question is this; if botting is illegal and we deserve to be pked for it why then do they go and pick up the items?? surely they should leave them because they wernt obtained legally either? pls give me your thoughts on this as it would be greatly appreciated thx ;D

I dont think botting should be illegal. I mean, you dont gain any atvantage over someone else who does not bot. In my opinion, just because I have a life and don't want to sit at the computer killing the same monsters over and over to get 3-4 virtual items, hell, I think i should be able to bot. Only difference from botting and not botting is one person has a life and the other doesn't. No atvantage to botting, you still get your dura lowered, you still have the potential to die, and you have the same percent chance to get a good item.
With that said, I think that botting isn't illegal, so I would have to say he did the "right" thing. Although, pking in a quest area no matter the reason should not be allowed.

yer i agree totally i dont have time anymore to just play all day like i used to and i certainly dont have the cash to paypal.

Hah, you don't see the advantages of botting over not using a bot? One person has to put in many hours of repetitive tasks while the other person doesn't have to do that. I'd say that's unfair. And why let the items go to waste? That's just silly.

well this is just my thoughts on the thing. I use itemtype file, COtobo and multi client oh and sometimes the bots for lvling like dh ect. Now i am not flaming anyone or saying ppl shouldnt use them just some things running around in my head.

1. Botting -- used for lvling --just a question do you actually play co or just run around and look cool with your high lvl char?
2. Botting -- used for hunting -- same as above just replace high lvl char with decked out char.
3. aim/speed hacking -- now the jury is out on if this actually real uh huh *cough cough* now using it against someone that also has it ok fine, but using it against someone who doesnt and then saying you owned them please that doesnt make you a bad *** player it makes you a no skills wuss.

I really don't care if ppl do 1 or all 3, my point is this

1. if you lvl bot and i see you i will move to another spawn, but in some cases botters have set the cords to work two spawns ( now thats just being a hog) so if your bot kses me or stands on my drops i will kill said bot.
2. same applies for hunting
3. aim/speed i just leave there is no point.

CO is a game that is meant to be played and for those of you who use every hack, cheat, bot you can get , well i have to wonder why they hell you play or should i say sit there and look pretty talking to your freinds, if you want to chat, use yahoo, msn, aol or a chat room .

And one final note to TQ (and this is a flame) i loved the "keep gameplay fair" remark. Lets see this was made by a bunch of lazy *** programers, who are too lazy to create different graphics for stuff ( ie a command token should not look like a pk ticket) much less fix the code that can be hacked.
Tq themselves are the first ones to start unfair gameplay by selling dbs. person a buys bulk dbs gets decked out. person b cant afford to and gets their *** owned how fair is that.
now i completely understand the sale of dbs, i mean the money for servers, bandwidth, salary, ect has to come from somewhere.
but to complain about hacks ect claiming unfair gameplay please you started it, maybe if the drop rates were better on supers, +'s dbs ect, and the gem mine rate wasnt such a joke we wouldnt need them.
but then that would mean a drop in dbs sales huh.
you created unfair gameplay now let us have our way of rebalancing it.

Any moral or ethical rights you may have in the game are immediately void the moment you use CoPartner. So did that person have a right to pk you and take whatever items you dropped? You **** right they did.

well i like 2 bot somtimes i dont do it mutch, cuz 1st off i really dont play mutch, tryin 2 make socs on 1 server and sell em so i can transfer dbs 2 a dif serv, so i aint been lvlin or bottin for dat matter in a while but when i do bot i use cp like almost everyone else but the thing about cotobo is that somtimes ur char just runs around infront of monsters, wich is pretty anoying, i only lvl on my own alil i usualy tg or bot-(for a few hours) but ne who b4 i used any bots i used 2 kill botters, so i wud say it is legal 2 kill ppl doin quests if they're botting, probly the reson they didnt turn off pk in quest places like tactics and skypass and w/e so yea if u get pked while botting, dont bot for long times or atleast when u r botting and ur just sittin in bed...peek at ur screen every few minutes

You made a few very good points. Although, they do not apply to everyone. Yes, I do bot. But, I didnt start botting until i was lvl 105. Why? Because it gets boring as hell. No, I do not want to play a game if it is boring, but yes, I do want to be a higher lvl. As of now, (I have had my account for almost 3 years) I am a lvl 113 Trojan. You may wonder why I am such a low level, that's because I dont always play CO. You say that by botting:

Well yes, I do play CO, thanks for asking. But no, I don't run around and look cool with my high lvl char, mainly because I dont have one. Furthermore, If you play any game and think you "look cool" because of your game character, this supports my main argument:

Now, about hunting "same as above just replace high lvl char with decked out char."
I have nothing on my char to be considered "Decked out"
ref boots, uni necklace, uni ring, elite sword, elite+1 club, Elite+2 armor, Elite+2 coro. If anyone thinks this is good, then you must be from a new server. Also, These equips are from before I began to bot. I just used mets to make them my level as I advanced.

Aim/speed hacking, is entirely different than botting. A hack is as follows:
To alter (a computer program);
To gain access to (a computer file or network) illegally or without authorization;
Really, many people use this word wrong. With this program, you are not actually hacking anything. What you are doing is cheating. All that a "Aiming hack" really does is search for a pixel, and when it finds this certain pixel, it acts as if you have pressed the right mouse button (For FB/SS). As for this, I do think it is wrong, because it clearly gives you an advantage over the opposition. This goes double for the speed hack. On your screen you will be jumping fast and atking the enemy, while on theirs you will be teleporting and hitting them.

Now on to the next poster, who made an interesting remark:

Moral or ethical rights?
Videogame characters do not have moral or ethical rights. Why? They do not exist. Pixels on a screen do not have rights, and 3D models do not have rights. With that said, where are these "rights" in which you speak of located? Truthfully, I would like to see these. And no, the Terms of Agreement or whatever they are called are not you moral or ethical rights in the game. That is your license to be able to play a game that is not yours.

This post was just to show how you can't pinpoint an entire population as doing and being one thing. Yes, many people have good equips and beleive they are cool, but they are wrong. I bot, therefore I have a good character? No, I bot therefore I have a life outside of CO.

My Final Statement(s):
If you have anything against botters or botting, then don't.
If you have no life and like to click the mouse button all day, play CO.

Botters ALWAYS say that, as if it somehow makes them look cool in their pitiful attempt to justify why they bot... I've never once seen a botter fail to use that same stale *** line, it's beyond old.

Botting is basically for lazy people, not putting myself out of that group. But unlike some, I've done it the real way for a good long time, and am simply bored Now botting is wrong of course..but there wouldnt be a wrong way without the right way existing, correct?

I haven't botted yet but I will bot in the future. If I get PKed, that's too bad, I deserved it I guess. But I'm not going to hide behind any excuses, because why should I? This arguement reminds me of all the people who download music/movies/etc saying that those companies still make a lot of profits, yet they all know it's still wrong to download. Actually, if you read my posts, you would see that you have that wrong. It is like this:
"I have a life (This sections means not just that I am alive, but i have things that I do, besides CO) so I don't have time to sit at the computer for hours, nor do I want to." *I tried to simplify it as much as I could for you

People who leave their characters in TG aren't at the computer any more that someone who bots.

It seems many people are unclear of what I meant by bots shouldnt be illegal. I am not proposing that TQ or anyone of you should think this way, nor do I care one way or the other, but I am simply giving my idea. You all seem to have your ideas as well, and that's great, but those of you who lack the intelligence to display your thoughts without simple minded remarks should keep them to yourself until you grow up. Such as these remarks for example, well, just look at anything Tombstone typed.

The first on is quite simple, it is essentially stating:

einhornchen, you are a smart man. Thats almost exactly what I said eirlier on. I lvled myself up to 105, (Although i didnt always level, thats why I have had that account for almost 3 years yet I am only 113 :P) and now its not just boring, but annoying to lvl. If each hit brings me up by 0.003 percent, somtimes 0.006, how does that make me want to play? I guess you could call it lazy-ness. Yes, I am a lazy CO player. That's it, I now understand. Its final, I just dont make a good CO player. Thank you all for this moment :P
