so did you guys follow her levels? or did you just stash up on low level items and upgrade them at cetain times? IE: buying a bunch of first level neckys and upping them at a cetain time? i might try this, i have an elite necky level 7....what time should i log on and up it?
|
well, i didn't payed attention of the type of the items, i was trying on 25 earings, used 31 mets on them. then, i got the last 10 mets from my other char, sold the earings to npc, and take a lvl 1 ring, lvl 17 normal neckly and another neckly refined. and i just spammed the last 10 mets on them.
Edit: about time, i started at :31 and continued till 38 when i got the sock. 7 mins spaming with 2 mins break to transfer mets from the other chars i had in tc. just spam items randomly.

ok, I'm sure that the sockets are based on luck. But, I want to clear up a misconception floating around about random numbers:
They are indeed based on time, but not on the time of day per se. The time is actually the system TickCount which depending on the person reading is contains the number of 1/60ths of a second that have elapsed since the machine booted up, or based on the number of whole seconds elapsed since 12:00am January 1st, 1970 (this is known as the epoch, to computer programmer folk)
Random numbers are actually SEEDED based on the time, meaning there is an equation that determines them with one variable -- a seed. Most random numbers are based on a polynomial equation and squeezed by a modulus operation, so the following, of course not being an actual random number equation, just an example, shows you what that means:
(2^(seed) * TickCount() + 67899) mod 50 = a "random" number that can be between 0 and 50. Since the seed changes each time the random number genreator is initialized, (usually seeded to the timer value at the time of say program initialization) you cannot possibly predict the random numbers unless you know a few things - the exact equation, the modulo limit, the seed, and the tickcount at random number generation (and I guaruntee that none of you do, trust me, nobody does except the developer, and even they can't track the seeding and tickcounts easily, which makes them even seem random for the coder himself - or herself of course) Most of these things actually would be calculated on the server, so reading your tickcount with some sort of injected hook or macro wouldn't really do you any good. You can't calculate the servers tickcount either because, surprise, surprise the lag varies between each packet by more than enough for you to be able to establish a pattern.
There is a theoretical way to predict random numbers a given computer will generate at a given time based on the ISN numbers associated with their outgoing packets, but that takes a lot of uptime, and you'd also have to know what modulo operation they are performing, and servers are rebooted every couple of days so, most likely, if they are smart, they're using the uptime tickcount (which is what I do anytime I use random numbers in my apps, -- which is also what they teach you to do in school, so I'm no genius that came up with it or anything.) and you won't be able to use the "cloud method" of calculating random numbers.
So, even though you're sort of right, it's not truely random, you really can't with today's resources, predict a random number, and make it work for you, say to get a socket.
Tough luck, and happy spamming.

well, this means that CheatoN, TheBest, BonrNToKillU and the other sock guru's can predict that random number. i saw them making 1 full tao gear in 2 days, from boots to cap, fully socketed.
i can say it is luck, and it is time also. u can get a sock at 7 am, pure lucky, or u can get all sock at 10:33 pm, not needing to be lucky at that time. may ppls are using macros to spam mets at artisan, well, it's a waste of mets, but u also can make socks.
can't be "your" random way when those ppls are making a bunch of socks.

CheatoN is the only one that actually figured it out, the others just buy them from him, plus they are close friends in rl, they all play in the same cafe in the phllipines

@ spamcatcher: nice thinking and it seems that you can't predict the random number BUT (y does there always have to be a but ) i don't believe you can't
if there is a calculating method behind it you can make a program for it to calculate it so that you know what time that the "socket number" would be "picked"
it would take some serious packet logging and checking and you would need a program to give you a contstant "lag"
thats just my opinion about it

So let me get this straight... i get 50+ mets, and i go buy ANY level of something in the mass ( IE 50 lvl 10 boots), then i met them all to level 20 at X:33 and my chance to get a socket is high? ( only reason i say ANY level is because the people who posted saying that bobbleness method worked, didnt follow her intructions on item level...)

so saying that there is no way to tell the outcomes of the sockets why is there even a few people that know enough to pull out so many sockets within a week 3-5 sockets a week its gotta be more then just random luck ever notice asking them about it they dont tell u sht or its a bunch of random stuff that everyone that makes so called sockets (maybe a socket every 4 months) says there has to be some way thoughs ppl that socket find out but i doubt any would tell im sure they all know about this site they are probly lookin at this post and laughing cause none of us know what they do

hmm...
whenever I get home from work, I go on CO, go to met zone for exactly 1 hour and 45 minutes, spend 15 minutes to socket a pair of earings, and sell them on ebay or somthing.
Spam catcher, maybe you are right, because I get home from work the exact same time every day, and login within minutes of the time I usually login..
Maybe it DOES depend on the time you login?
Anyways, I explained my socket trick fairly clearly.. sorry if you can't understand it.
