Weapon skill audio edits?

I think many will agree with me, the weapon skill audio will bore the living **** out of you after awhile... There has to be a way to edit it on an individual basis... I would be more than willing to do all the detail work and such, if someone could point me in the right direction on a couple things:

1: What is the file name/location of the default weapon skill audio? (crappy whooshing sound)

2: With what can I decrypt the MagicType.dat file? (Hex editor can open it, but the file itself appears to be encrypted, and as such, I can't even search for skill names successfully.)

I've managed to open the file with the ItemType.dat viewer posted here on e*pvp, so I'm sure the encryption is along the same lines.... However, many of the older guides to modifying skills refer to a MagicType.ini file that doesn't seem to exist?

Again, my goal isn't to change the default sound. I want to create NEW sounds, and alter the necessary files as... Necessary... To cause a new sound to play on skill activation (depending on what skill you use).

For example, the hammer skill "Boom".... Sounds nothing like a boom. -.- And I think that's retarded, and wish to change it. I think all the weapon skills could use new audio (and maybe high lv taoist attacks could sound better than the low level versions, hmm?).

Not sure if anyone else would appreciate it, but I'd enjoy it more myself.. So, how possible is it, where need I look, and what is the file name for that stupid whoosh?

in Conquer 2.0 > sound folder
listen to sound effects, and found the one that u want to change
delete it and make a new wav file in that folder that has the same name

You didn't read...... -.-

I read the method of changing sounds. I get that. I listened through most of the audio files in that folder, failed to find the one that is used for weapon skill activation. I need to know, if anyone knows it, what that file is, so I can locate it in the appropriate .dat file, to redirect that to a NEW file. I'm not changing all the sounds as they are. I want to make new sounds for individual skills.

It may or may not be possible, but it seems quite plausible to me.

so by changing the dat file, are u trying to achive something like:
original: whoosh~
modify: whoosh~bingbing~ (with bingbing new wav with separate file from whoosh)
or
modify: bingbing (instead of whoosh, replace with bingbing)

if its the first case, well u still need to listen to all wav files and try to find the one related whoosh, unless u know what those variables means in the dat file. which listening and then compare whoosh can be done by everyone that can listen. but the dat file, its kind of that u know it, then u know it. if u dont know it, u will never understand what 12345 id related to what file by just staring at the variables (plus, i dont recall any programs to decrypt)

if its the second case, well, u still need to listen as mention above
then in dat file, search and find the wav name
then either change it redirect to something else
or as mention in my first reply, just replace the wav file (so even upgrade patches will not changed back to original) so my other suggestion is, if u have some senses on how to edit MP3/wav files, well just combine ur new sound after the whoosh sound file.

apparently ur idea is totally possible, but basically u are just requesting people to spend time to listen wav files for u and give u the exact answer (not method). which in my first reply, i suggested that maybe u can actually listen and compare to achieve ur own goal

flowerpot's monster.exe will decrypt the file, since it uses the same encryption sceme as monster.dat and itemtype.dat etc.

The sound filenames are plain old text IIRC, so it's simple text editing.

You are partially right. I wasn't asking the method. I know that I simply have to change the name of the audio file reference in the .dat. I was asking if anyone knows what file it is. Seeing as I already listened to quite a few and haven't found it yet. But I'll check again, maybe I missed one.

Thanks much.

EDIT: Once decrypted, the file did indeed direct me to "magic029.wav" as the appropriate audio file. I seem to have overlooked it when I was checking through. At any rate... I now need suggestions for what the weapon skills SHOULD sound like, as compared to what they sound like now. Perhaps I should make a new thread for that though.

@evan: There's 453 files in there, I didn't want someone else to listen through em for me, I wanted to know if I could decrypt the .dat to find the filename in there, as it'd be way simpler to search for "SpeedGun" and find the associated audio file than to listen to 453 audio files to find it. My biology teacher always told me... Work smart not hard. Sometimes doing it backwards is easier. ^^
