People can obviously debate all they want on what the 'best' style of server is but it all boils down to personal preference.
He's right that many people hate working for anything (a less polite person would call this group of people 'impatient retards'

) but the fact remains these type of players exists.
I've said it before but the success of a private server lies in three key areas.
#1: Know what you want and go for it. Do not stray from your plan (too far) unless your goals themselves change.
If you want to do a super high rate server, or a pvp server, or a super hard server that's harder then tq... That's your choice but don't even bother trying to 'convert' people from opposing opinions. Simply know what you want and focus on making it the best you can.
#2: Avoid Corruption
This includes both donations and the gm 'issue'. If you treat players like crap or have double standards... you'll piss off a TON of people
Allowing gms who you would question for a SECOND is a bad idea imo. If there's any doubt in your mind they might give stuff out... wtf are you doing putting them on your team? You should trust your staff every bit as much as you trust yourself. Personally I have only two people on my staff right now and I trust them enough for them to have full access to my dedicate server, database, source code, etc... That's because I refuse to put people on full time staff who I'd have any doubts about their reliability
#3: Listen to and respect your player base.
If people have complaints then LISTEN. If there are bugs then APOLOGIZE.
We can sit around insulting co players all we want (and it's true.. many people who play pservers just feel they can demand anything they want) but at the end of the day these are people. Treat them well and they'll bring in far more players to your server and they'll stick around much longer.
Not every idea can be used, most infact are pointless but the mere fact you're listening to players helps your server... plus you can get some really awesome ideas from your users.
