I'd really prefer Haydz' method since it's actually a fix rather than a workaround .

It's possible our fix is not setting all the required values. With the client open, can you tell me what your mouse pointer trails are set to? On my own machine it enables it with the lowest possible pointer trail duration which makes it virtually un-noticable.
When the client is closed it should turn off mouse pointer trails again resuming normal display.
I had heard from some people that the hook method wasn't as successful which is why we went with what we're using. I'm more than willing to change over to using that, just trying to investigate all the options

It does actually set it to the lowest possible setting, but it's still easily noticeable, at least for me. And apparently it doesn't properly disable the pointer trails after closing the client, I had to turn it off manually.

Yeah it's pretty noticeable for me also, although I have no fps issues so I don't use it.
It should disable the trails when the last Conquer client closes, so if you have more than one open that could be the reason. Or if it for some reason closes 'ungracefully'.

Talked to Freszone about it. In the next patch we'll set it to use the hook method by default with the config file letting you choose either
hook method
trail method
disabled
Just a heads up if you dont want it to use the trail and you have no issue, you can edit ApexConquer.ini to turn it off. You can do the same for your own health bar as some players wanted it to only show for other players.

Notifications and More!
-Vote rewards will now only be assigned once votes have been cast successfully.
-Drop notifications messages will now be color coded
-Reflect/poison will no longer work in pvp events that count # of hits
-Battle power will no longer be displayed in the client. This is a clarity change as BP has not and never will be used on Apex
-Transform skills ending will no longer result in taos having 0 mana
-FreezeArrow and PoisonArrow should both work properly now. Be sure to test and report any issues.
Just so there's no hard feelings - We originally didn't want to enable the vote checking as it can be annoying and I cannot guarantee top100 will always notify us properly. For the past 24 hours I've had it verifying in the background and only around 5 percent of those claiming vote rewards are actually voting so this was a step that we felt we HAD to take.
Please, please report any issues you run into with it and understand that we are rewarding players for advertising our server by voting, not for simply clicking the button and then immediately closing the popup.

Sounds like the issue is more on your end, doesn't seem very likely that both hosts would have the file corrupted.
Try downloading it with AV and any download manager etc disabled if you have any, if it still doesn't work it might be your network connection (idk if there are any integrity checks in downloads), or something completely different I have no idea of

Yeah I figured it was something on my end I was just asking for any suggestions, I don't have any malware/antivirus stuff nor download manager, Chrome did flag it as dangerous on the direct mirror but I tried both on a different browser too, strange.

Strange - I've had a few people talking about corrupted clients.
Today I'm going to take the current client and upload to a few other mirrors and we can see how they work for people.
I'd like to move away from direct hosting regardless as there's little reason to be wasting my bandwidth when I can just upload it to mega or some similar service.

Appreciate the feedback.
This is a classic server so CP drops would feel really odd on it. Instead we've raised DB droprates quite high and players can sell them for CP if needed. That being said, CPs have very few uses in this server.
Updated direct link + mirror link to a .rar archive of the most current client.
If you have any issues still, please let us know. Megaupload should work just fine and the direct link is still there as a backup (I suggest using mirror though to avoid any strange issues with poor web server configuration which could cause corruption)
