Don't know if it was already mentioned but I really didn't want to read all the walls of text but the beginning of 2.0 could be considered classic as it had none of the new features that plagued CO. It was simply an interface change for the most part.
At first the 2.0 client was hard to get used to, but after the years, I'd prefer it to the 1.0 client itself just because it's a bit sleeker. Granted it won't have the same feel as 1.0, you still don't have the issues that kill CO.
