If your server "crashes", the thread(s), will freeze, resulting in the server not being able to run that "void of save". Better solution, stop the crashing.
But I do agree with you, saving when logging off is the way it's supposed to be done and the only sensible method.

check out LOTF it saves every 5 seconds ( and if you don't think it does. IT DOES!! )

Alright, i understand what your saying. But your saying that saving everything doesn't lag the server. So how come saving everything when it changes does?
Either way it gets the job done, i personally like saving it when it changes just in case the server(vps/dedi) crashes/goes down, or the pc its hosted on goes down.

As I said... I'm not sure what's causing it since I don't get those at all. I've never gotten a rollback on any character (I did when I had the "Fixed" Jump but I understood that). So instead of preparing for it- (I know I don't say this a lot since I prepare for the worst but) why don't we attempt to fix it?
I know it'll be hard but I think we can work it out if we all try together. If it happens to you, post exactly what you were doing on the server and what your players were doing when it happened. What does it look like on the server's console? Does it crash? What exactly is happening here? Lets get some details together!

Both are built uniquely... but I doubt that has to do with the functionality of the server. That's what I'm saying. My server doesn't crash either; however, my server is still only in closed beta testing which only consists of 23 people. I'm wondering if it's the socket problem that they're talking about or another problem that's making the server crash.

At the moment I do have a website but it's only for my testers to pass news and patch explanations. The server isn't public yet; it's undergoing closed beta testing which is only open to my friends from Conquer Online. I appreciate that you have an interest in my server but you'll have to wait until it's public.
