Ddos attack

Hello,

Been a while since i visited this forum but i recently started playing a pserver.

Now my char is about ready but there is this one guy, ddosing the server.

The owners aren't that good with handling it so i thought maybe elitepvpers has some answers

They have just recently moved the server (don't know why) and changed nothing else, ofcourse this does not stop the guy flooding the server when he wants.

Anyone knows how to handle this? Ive seen a guy do this to a classic server from TQ, they implemented a spam filter cause they didnt know what else to do.

But spam filter also ment you had to wait a while to talk again after you pressed enter... Pretty annoying.

Sooo, does anyone have experience with this or have an idea what to do? So i could tell the owners what to do

Depends on a lot of things.

#1: What source are they using. They may be simply abusing poor code in the source (or bins) to allow them to lag/crash the server. Depending on what they are exploiting it may be a easy fix.

#2: Scale of the attack. REAL ddos is fairly hard to avoid and often involved fairly expensive routers to help filter out the connections but such attacks require a large number of machines to execute the attacks with. It's fairly unlikely this is the case.

And yes, panic and drama has been setting in for some time now, it's pretty funny to see the forumchat sometimes.
