I was talking to him about private server development though (an idea I had for Daybreak's map system), and he closed up saying that there isn't any better way to do things than what's out there. the server needs some testers... i tested the server a while ago and it was pretty good,
but still, bugs will show up every now and then because as Adel said, one person cant test
the entire server by him self.

server got some stuff working 100% that i havent seen in any other server around,
at least thats what i think.. for example the steeds breeding window that shows the new steed
color, he got it working, last time i checked the new servers had that gay steed color
for each and every single breeding..

anyway, server still needs some testers, and soon private testing will begin before launching the beta version.. anyone who would like to apply for a private tester feel free to PM Angelius and he will give you the needed information to connect to the server.
server been running on ****** vps ( hosted in Pennsylvania ) for a while now ( at least for me it is ****** because i live in the middle east ), but depending on the general ping for all players, vps will be changed.

well u can do Test by urself for everything in server but it gonna take time and smthing u cant test by urself Source Socket Handler its affected by handling ppls at same time so its the only thing i guess which can be tested using alot of ppls except that u can test everything alone

You can't test everything alone, such as PVP and features where you need to be more than one person, events etc.

To expand on that... Sure you can multi client/get 1-2 people to log in and test events but that will NOT let you find all the possible bugs.


When I wrote the OLD hellmouth source and was testing ctf we had insane amounts of bugs that we found after we had a real number of players online (people able to multi capture flags cause the checks were not done right). Sure we tested it with a few players but that is no substitute for say.. 10, 20, 50 players all testing the same stuff. They WILL find holes in your code and if you don't do that throughout testing then you're going to have one really buggy server and it's going to be a real pain to go back and fix all the features.

Note: Careful coding goes a loooonnngg way towards making sure things are done right the first time... but testing = gooood

You can't PVP against yourself tho How will you test angles etc. you see there is a lot of things you can't test alone Sure you can test most, but when it get's to advance things like that, then you simply can't.

not only PvP, different classes with different skills, you can never be 100% sure that leveling process is bugless, you need lots of players online hunting and leveling at the same time to make sure **** dont go wrong when 2 or more players are hunting in the same area. like monster spawn or gear drop.

take hellmouthco for example, i joined that server and it was running normally, hunting monsters like a boss but a while after monsters started acting gay, other times monsters made their own db shower, in other cases monsters stopped dropping gears and started dropping refind phoenix gems.

in trinityco monsters sometimes stop respawning, in other times they simply decide not to die.

it takes more than 1 person to test a server, specially if that server is coded from scratch.

Acually if you do it correctly, Have the console print the angle the AI is at would be much more accurate then the visual.

So.. its been like 15 days since i started this thread an i don't know what happened to me after a friend of mine asked me to write some kind of a helper to work with cid proxy (detect floor items/drop unneeded items). kinda beating the stuff that stopped the cid proxy form working on that server.

And i end up coding almost a whole bot lol (hunt/loot/drop/disconnect/jump/etc) but then i was like hey this is it i gotta stop cus i almost forgot that i have a server that needs to be finished :P

So i woke up today and im willing to make some good progress to make up for the last 15 days i wasted coding that **** lol. And maybe just maybe i'll finish that bot later (its fun)

However. Progress for the last 2 days

Rebirth Master: First/Second rebirth are now coded i tested both systems like 10 times already and it seems to work just fine

Flowers System: not sure if that's needed but i coded it any way

Currently working on: Clans it'll be all done by the end of today i hope.
