It's as said already, only got to do with luck.. when I hunt at hawkings cave sometimes I would go 2K kills with getting 2 mets and +1 1h.. last night (not server time) i went about 700 and got +1 archer coat and a met.. it's just some people are more lucky than others lol.

Ok from my vague experiances with coding and talking to certain gm's, here is what I could piece together.
There is a number generated by the server. When a person strikes with a pickaxe, it generates a number. This keeps going until someone's client gets the number for the gem/ore/item so then it drops. Then the number resets to something else. When there are less people online, you have a greater chance of you being the one to hit this number, instead of someone else. Thus, getting more gems.
In regards to the "Luck skill" all this does is increase your chance of getting the correct number for the gem etc. I dont think it would be possible (Well it would, but really hard to do) to give each character created a hidden "Luck attribute" and then that modifies the chances of getting lucky because then TQ would have to have number generators for each level of luck attribute. That would take too much time/resources.
With lucky time, I think that instead of maybe sending one number when you hit with pickaxe, it may send two or more, thus increasing your chances for a gem two/threefold. That would be the most logical way of doing it...
Then again, this IS TQ we're talking about. *** knows how they do anything o.0
Oh and yes, the server generates which item will have a + on it when the item is picked up otherwise they would be able to mod the item.dat to show items that are +1

It is a video game. Therefore it can't simply be luck. There has to be some numbers behind it, and WhirlWind's Theory is the cloest to something accurate I have heard so far. It obviously has to do with numbers, and I actually do think there is some form of a "luck attribute", as we will call it. I think everything in this game influences your luck. Your leve, your equipment, whats in your inventory, who is around you, you pk points, etc. It's not as simple as "luck", but there are many many things that make up this luck factor. Which also makes sense with the 2nd reborn thing, where that luck attribute is increased. Whirlwind's explanation is the only logical one. Obviously it is somewhat random, and I agree completely it is based on Luck. But that luck is the source of things you do on the game, not randomness.

Well i get only items after like 2 full inventories of items hunted,might get few mets but usually nothing..And my friend,an archer,finds crazy much +1 items just when he goes into spawn so i dunno. I hunt now mostly with my fire,but when i hunted with tro in hawkies i got lots of +1'es with low kills.

it is possible for TQ to rpogram seperate "Luck" attrabutes to each character. If you look at the game Oblivion, yo see that you get a luck attribute. the higher ur luck is on oblivion, the better chance u hav of certin things workin(Lock Picks, ect...). also the better chance of getting good items in a box that you open. so... if the creators of oblivion are able to make a luck attribute and have it work than it is definitly possible for TQ ro make 1!!!
I also believe that the less people on the server, the better chances of ur getting good things. If they made a actuall luck attribute , they would definitly not tell people that they did, thwey want people to think its random!
If they did have the luck attribute, they would have to make it so that it was changable(improve it/lessen it). Like each item could also get a luck attribute when it is created, increasing or decreasing ur luck when you have it on.
it could be that like some ppl say, the server uses numbers to see when someone gets something good(super, gem, ect...) but they could use that and also the luck attribute at the same time, say every time u hit ur pick axe to the ground u generate a number and that number could be added to ur total luck to generate the number. Every ore and gem has a different number that u need to hit for it to be mined. {For example: say a SDG's number is 5000, and a rate1copperore is 4999 you hit the ground with ur hoe or pickaxe and generate a 4600, and ur luck at the time is 400, you would get the SDG but if u hit with a 4599 and ur luck is still 400 u would get the copper.}
Coordinates could also affect a specific persons luck, some ppl get better stuff at a certin cood. if u mine in the same place forever, you could keep gettin more luck at that specific spot every time u go back. {for example: if you go to ne spot and get a bunch of copper 1 time, but you keep goin back you could get increase ur luck by say 1 point(using the info from the last example) you now hav 401 luck and you hit down and get a 4599 and get the SDG}.

I think it's more about probabilities
Like on each 10k slowapes killed 1 db or super will drop , it doesn't mean u have to kill 100k slowape, just that u need to kill the 10kth one
which is why some peeps get db on first few kills while others don't get ****
But of course having a map only to urself increases ur luck cuz u'll definitely be the one who'll kill the 10kth one

ive noticed this too. when ever im hunting late at night such as 11:30pm i always get much better drops.

I think that when their are less people around or in the map you will have a higher chance of getting items, like 3 days ago I made 1 db a couple +1s and refined in 1 hour of playing on my warrior, then the very next day I gained another db 2 +1 trojan armors and 3 +1 bs with a unique wand. My warrior had crappy equipment so maybe the equipment has the luck, like if I was wearing all normal equipment maybe my luck is higher than if it was full super equipment? Just a thought.

Well since the 100 cap is being released fairly soon I was wondering if anyone knows which mobs will be the most likely to drop sos som and sosun items and equips. I've gotten an sos lvl 42 glavie from lvl 36mobs before, but my friend recently got a lvl 81 sosun drop from lvl 87 mobs. So my question is this: which lvl mobswill have the greatest chance of droping sosun items once the 100 cap is released.

Open yourDatabase "my" and click on "Query"
Copy anything of this and paste it there.
Then you need to press the "Run"-Button.
