No thats impossible if you try to upgrade without full dura the npc will ask you to fix it. So it has to be:
24/24
25/25
26/26
27/27
To do this get ur item, wear it, go to a place were there are alot of monsters and let them hit you(without killing you ofcourse), till ur dura goes 0! then go fix it at any npc and the max dura will go down by 8. so if the dura was 0/40 it will become 32/32. Keep repeating this until your max dura is within the 20s. Don`t try this with low level items!! I tried it with rings boots and neckies and it doesn`t work. You need to lower the dura urself.

well i tryed in a robe elite +1 lvl 65 that have dura 40/40 and i have used 3 DBs and nothing :s. I saw that some items dont have the "true" dura. like a elite robe too that i have, lvl 40 and it have dura 39/39. do u have a teaory for false dura?
curiously i pass a trojan armor elite lvl 32 to super and this armor dont have 40/40 dura but i keep at 25/25 and pass with ONE DB!!
the day after that i tryed to pass my 2 robe but nothing! do u usually do that every day or weekly?

it works kinda... i upgraded from uni>elite with one db but ive fail 2 dbs trying elite>super. im currently getting money for more dbs. quick? if the durability goes up after i upgrade do i have to take it back down to 25?

Well acctually it's really simple.Every gear has it's lvl(gear's lvl can be upgraded with vio's),when your characters lvl matches you'r gear's lvl then work your ass to hunt bosses for reds.
This solution gives you 75% rate.
Lets say you have a lvl 80 unique helm,and you'r lvl is 80 (should be same lvl but less then 30% at the lvl xp bar) should take you MAX 5 red's to make the helm elite.
From my experience:
At lvl 88 made my elite+12+soc brace to super with 1 red,i was same lvl and 20% at...

ok heres a lil trick i do with -5 items, this isnt a quick money making scheme takes a lil time and effort
1: get a high lvl -5 item or a high lvl soc wep/item (must be high lvl or it doesnt work)
2: make sure the dura is 1-0 if not u gotta wear it down (but dont let it break >.>)
3:if u have a 2nd rb start lucky time and repair it if not just wait till a 2nd rb starts his lucky time in market, tc, ext...
4: repeat this process over n over and the quality will eventually go up

Well i have no idea if it was just pure luck or some kind of glitch but today i upgraded my elite lvl 105 bow to a super lvl 105 bow with only 1 db in twin city
i was standing right by the warehousman facing the artisan and i had to use shiftscreen to see him so i dont know if that had anything to do with it or what anyways just trying to contribute dont flame because im not a noob
