OK,

let me have a shot at explaining how this works.

Server sends data to client. Client, based on id, chooses the proper files that define the dove on your computer. Saying that there are two different doves is like saying that you can distinguish elf apes that drop good stuff from those that drop bad stuf.

When the server sends you id they all have same "display" id. Once you kill it the guts spill out and they might or might not inclue something shiny.

This means that zato & rest are overly wrong. There are simple tools on this foum that will allow you to see what those ids are. You will see that all of them are same. It is just server controlled inventory.

Code:

M <- something between 0 and A

small items = ('hp pot', 'mp pot', 'gold', '');

if ((rnd()%A) > M) {
 dove <-- mets;
} else {
 dove <-- small items[rnd()%size of (small items)];
}
M is normally a function of time & active players. Admin desires that servers are occupied at all times. Some games give bonus to exp for unidle players. Some better drops. Another again .... well somethng else.

This is how you genereally specify the random lewt on mobster in games when some monsters

i hope this explains why:
a) hunting on spawns with archer yelds most results
b) why you can't distinguish monsters by editing monster.dat

What could be done? You could monitor what monster does biggest damage. And to what monster you do smallest damage.

In closing, on fridays reboot spawn times were raped a bit, resulting in lesser spawning frequency - or higher M in the code above.



And there is no need to speculate what was dones in patch & where the shit is hidden. You can either check the patch file (it is a mere rar that overwrites stuff) or monitor system calls if you presume they planted hidden info in earlyer patch and are somehow activating it now

I hope this clears up a thing or two. Is it possible - probably. Are the means to achieve this those discussed in this thread so far - not likely.

Now metdoves respawn are back to slow this force me to figure out the solution quick.

-Since the real metdove id that ends in 15 does not affect any change but the one that ends in 16 does. I need to find what's the purpose of that code if it have no affect. Is it a reference for the server?

-Some ppl suggest editing the colour of the metdove; and i happen to have photoshop cs but doesnt know which file contains the real metdoves mesh. Can anyone tell me?

-Is it possible to edit the range or the visual attack of a real metdove to make it easier to identify?

Or maybe if we make a program that reads numbers on screen and identifies a number that too much below the average numbers being shown.

This is my favorite idea but i find it very hard \not impossible to do:

Edit some files to make the real metdoves belong to your team tell me if i plain crazy ; i dont mind criticism and so we know where and if there is one on the map. Unlike before stupid friday maintenance :? there is always a metdove in the map.

well
editing the color of the skin wouldnt do anything because they reuse the mesh for both types of metdoves

but... someone will figure out a way. someone. and btw, editing your monster.dat file DOES work to distinguish monsters. just not metdoves anymore.

as I understand... it would be imposible to make them different because:
the id 15 is an old id not used anymore.
the id 16 is actually both the real and fake met doves (having same life, skin, bla bla) so when you change 16 it affects both of them and if you change 15 it doesn't affect any cause that id isn't used anymore...
the only difference between real and fake met doves is of damage and defence... which are both server sided (too bad... all monsters giving 1 damage... hmmmm )
so... conclusion... this way of distinguishing the doves has been disabled. so lets stop trying to change the monster.dat for met doves and start thinking of another way of doing it...

^^ good thinking deathlord, focusing alot on met doves might be alot of wasted time so if you focus more on things like looking at items in inventory it says "refinedrefcathat" <--- must be a way to correct that problem right? I saw a idiot post a screenshot with supersup>bow< means I dont remember what bow, but he posted that on CO site which was pretty stupid!

i think that server de you talk about is bullshit..

maybe TQ installs a virus on our computer when we run CO that makes us beleave that we are changing the file and we really are not.

If this virus thing is true imagine what they could do.. they could be sending our CO accounts and passwods to their servers and scamm us in the future..

if you agree with me you should no longer trust TQ and should quit playing CO, and dont ever again post in this foruns...

dude... first of all... TQ can't install a virus in your comp... that would break the licence agreement and if any1 detected the virus he could sue them for everything they have... second... if you wanna quit co... fine... quit... but dont make acusations to scare other ppl who would belive you... thirdly... they own CO ... why the need for scams??? what would they gain? thirdly... stop being a noob they dont need to send our user and pass to them cause they have everything stored... every user and pass, every equip you own is stored in some nice files on their server...

First of all why would tq send us a virus to see our password and username if they already have it in their database

lol I used ur program to edit the price of gold ore
but found out it is only client side
(I.e dont get the price I put on it just get default price)
