Yeah, I get where you’re coming from, bro, but two wrongs don’t make a right. That’s the path you’re taking, thinking it’s justified. It’s clear you haven’t had much experience with the law because why would you do something illegal (like doxxing) to someone else who’s also doing something illegal (spreading copy-paste malware)?
Lucas was an internal threat, not an external one. Exposing his information isn’t just highly illegal, it’s unnecessary. If you see someone like him as a serious threat, I honestly don’t know what to say. The guy is posting videos on YouTube and sharing stuff on subforums. He’s clearly seeking attention, and by reacting like this, you’re giving him exactly what he wants.
If he truly had bad intentions, he wouldn’t be so public about it. We all know how the cyber world works. you don’t draw attention to yourself if you’re doing something boggy. This guy is clearly just a kid, and exposing his information isn’t just unprofessional, it’s counterproductive. Thinking you’re untouchable just because you’ve never dealt with an external threat is naïve.
I’m not trying to yap on about it. I’m just hoping to convince you to take down the doxxing information you’ve been sharing as I’m sure this guy is young or has mental issues. In the eyes of the law, anything happens to him you’ll also be extradited & jailed as would he if hypothetically the FBI cares(they won’t). Why risk jail time
over something so dumb.
ChatGPT response as states differ:
Doxxing—the act of publicly sharing someone’s personal information without consent—can lead to serious legal consequences in the United States, varying by jurisdiction and the specifics of the offense.
Federal Law:
While there’s no overarching federal law explicitly prohibiting doxxing, related activities can fall under federal statutes, especially when they involve harassment, stalking, or threats across state lines. For instance, the proposed Interstate Doxxing Prevention Act aimed to criminalize doxxing with penalties of up to five years in prison and fines, but it hasn’t been enacted into law.
State Laws:
Several states have enacted laws addressing doxxing, often focusing on the intent to harm or harass and the resulting consequences. Here are some examples:
• Alabama: Doxxing is considered a Class A misdemeanor, punishable by up to one year in jail and fines. A second or subsequent offense elevates it to a Class C felony, with harsher penalties.
• Arizona: Using electronic communication to share someone’s personal information with the intent to cause unwanted physical contact, injury, or harassment is a misdemeanor, punishable by up to six months in jail and/or a fine of up to $2,500.
• California: Publishing someone’s identifying information electronically without consent, intending to place them in fear for their safety, is punishable by up to one year in jail and/or a fine of up to $1,000.
• Colorado: Knowingly making personal information of certain protected individuals (like law enforcement officers) available online, posing an imminent and serious threat, is a misdemeanor, punishable by up to 364 days in jail and/or a fine of up to $1,000.
Considerations:
The severity of penalties often depends on factors such as the perpetrator’s intent, the harm caused, and whether the victim belongs to a protected group (e.g., law enforcement officers). Additionally, doxxing can lead to civil lawsuits for invasion of privacy, intentional infliction of emotional distress, or other related claims.
Conclusion:
Engaging in doxxing can result in significant legal repercussions, including jail time and fines, depending on the jurisdiction and circumstances. It’s crucial to be aware of and respect privacy laws to avoid such consequences.
