Pay to play vs Buy to play vs Free to play

Everybody should know these terms by now. If you don’t I’ll help you out:
• Free to play: Games that are totally free, and have no monthly subscriptions, or any type of mandatory fee’s (you only pay if you want to buy something nice).
• Buy to play: You only pay for the game once and you get full content. (games like Guild Wars use this)
• Pay to play: A player pay’s a mandatory fee (in most games u have to pay every month, but you can buy month or year subscriptions)
Well, now that you know the basic payment methods, let’s talk about their pros and cons.
• Pay to play:
Pros:
Pay to play company’s usually have a lot of money spent in the gamking of their games. So you can expect a lot from them. Like great graphic’s, high quality voice acting, and in-depth gameplay.
Everyone knows the game Runescape, it might not offer players the best graphic’s or the best voice acting ever (or any voice acting actually), but as far as I know, the game has a very large world, and a really large variety of quests (both free and subscriber quests). Runescape has a total of 169 quests, 20 free quests and 149 subscriber quests. Pay to play game makers take good care of their games and patch them regularly.
Cons:
Apart from the subscription fee there is nothing wrong with them, some games are over-priced. And are too addictive.
• Buy to play:
Pros:
You only have to pay once, install the game and get ready for some great gameplay. What I like about Buy to play games, is that you don’t have to pay every month/week, and you get the same thing as pay to play. Great graphics, fun gameplay, and some epic music.
Cons:
Sometimes buy to play games are as good as pay to play, but they don’t get the same attention. I don’t really have anything else to say about this.
• Free to play:
Pros:
These games are totally free to play, all you need to do is download, register and play. You also have a really large selection of free games. Nowadays free games are really setting the new standards for all three types. Everyone should know games like “Lord of The Rings” online, Vindictus, and “Everquest 2: Extended”. Everquest2:Extended is basicly an unlimited free trial of Everquest. And Lord of the Rings use to be a pay to play game. But Vindictus, this game is going to be released as a free game, filled with action.
Cons:
Free games usually have a small (or an over-crowded) playerbase, an over-priced cash shop, a spammed chat, and hackers. Some game company’s don’t care about the games they own and don’t patch them regularly.
All game types are good, but its really up to the player, and the games he like’s to play, if you have high expectations for the games you play, play pay to play. If you are more of a casual player that plays once or twice a week, buy to play or free to play are your best options.
