Thinking of a new server

He wants to differ from non-donors. On that server, there won't be, hopefully, donors/non-donors. Just play and enjoy the game. Donate and help him if you want, if you can. End of discussion.

I just finished up the marketplace stuff, forgot how annoying that is to edit.. You'll notice there's probably some stuff missing, or some stuff with weird prices. This is mainly because I've forgotten a lot and will need to be reminded, but we can fix that up before its "really" finished.

Not enough coffee in the world to make me manually add all the fashions to the shop, so I just made the NPC Modini/Beautician sell all of it instead. A lot easier.

Also, I thought Aeacus/Latamantis/Sphinx cards were implemented in 1.8? They don't seem to exist. There's scripts for them, but client side doesnt show them, and can't add the item. Strange..

Yes, they are from 1.8 update.

Passed long time since I played BOI last time, so if I may say., "I am glad to see YOU are making an old school client." -

If that's the case then I wonder if the 1.8 Client I have isn't the last 1.8 Client that was released, but still syncs with server..

If anyone has the manual patches, please do hit me up with them. PW downloads are dead.

I rember 1.8 client is from late 2010. -maybe early 2011., not sure if someone would keep those files since "long time" passed.

i dont know if this help, but i still have the game setup from 2010 if u want. i download it from june 14, 2010...so not sure if that the setup u want.

I actually had two installers that I tried. One with the Titan background when you start the game (sounds like the right one) and that's the one that syncs with the server. The other one I have is Frozen Fort background when you start the game, but to me, that feels like before Titan patch.. Not sure.

Either way Latamantis, Aeacus, Sphinx card do not seem to exist in this client.

Tbh i'd be in just because it's Menoz the one who's starting it,i'd be willing to drop all the "fancy new stuff" from the new updates just to be sure the server itself aint **** .

I for one wish ya the best of luck and i'd be very interested in trying it out , and i'm sure a lot of other people would too it's just that most of us gave up on checking these forums for new servers after all those failed servers we had lately . I guess that once people start finding out about it they'll all start calling in their friends / guilds and such and the player base would grow pretty fast.

Only small request i'd have would be for you to at least do your best to prevent daily zen abuse , most of us and i'm sure you yourself know that zen abuse was what killed most "promising" servers , that and DDOS attacks

I understand your concerns. The last time I built a free ZEN program I was very unexperienced, and I think most can agree on that just by looking at how it was designed. What I can promise you is that I have a much better understanding of things now (I mean it's been 2+ years..), and I'll do what I can about the ZEN abuse.

Obviously I'm not gonna say in detail here what kind of checks I have implemented to the ZEN requester, but what I can say is that there's a total of 3 unique identifiers, one of which should in theory render VPNs and/or proxies pretty redundant. In practise however, I guess we'll have to wait and see.

That's actually really good to hear, i like what's being done , do you have any ETA? hopefully im not being rude to ask that ._.

Some thoughts to avoid abuse (ruin in-game economy)and extra costs from resources (network-bandwidth) :
Not have valuable zen items in store OR have zen shop for bound things that are not trade-able OR not use zen at all , use of salary maybe is a good idea,the use of coins ( especially if coins dropped from events) OR a combination of them.
Zen trades need more sources(people) like middle men,also encourage scammers and make GM s to be online and run investigations all the time about the trades....

in order to change my IP, all i have to do is restart my router (takes 5minutes). i have like 3 computers at home plus i can use some virtual machines.
even if i didn't i can still ask my brother to request zen for me, or i can request it from work.

I believe anti-abuse system shouldn't be about not being able to request zen, but rather about not being able to use zen requested on an alt.
I guess you could make whole marketplace bound (including rewards from boxes) and treat daily zen as a personal boost rather than currency. economy in boi private servers always sucked anyway, so i guess we could just stick to trading in items, or we could try to force coin trades.

restating your router won't work unless it's a ****** anti abuse system and considering virtual machines needs to connect to your router, it still wouldn't work but i do like you're suggestion to make everything in bound i see no other way around this lol

well, i guess IP alone means nothing, but i can still use a computer at my office, or ask someone to request zen on my alt.
and well, IP restrictions might be troublesome for siblings playing from one apartment

I really don't think there's much anyone can do about friends requesting zen or using your work computer to do so.
On the other side making it all bound could work but can you imagine how boring things would be ? we wouldn't have any trades at all and if we force the coin trades it's gonna end up in a contest of who can boot the more coins per night ..
