Any1 have a SSD in their PC ?

hello all

if any1 can help answer this please:

need to know if any1 has a SSD in their PC and how fast it loads AL ??

im building a new PC and just need to know if its worth getting a SSD as the prices have dropped a lot.

im asking this as i multi client AL and i got a 1TB Samsung F1 7200RPM and it still takes 60 - 70 seconds to load 1 client.

When i get to the 5th client it takes over 2 minites to load xD.

if it makes a significant difference - like 30seconds per client to load, then yeah ill go for the Crucial M4 or the Sandisk Extreme along with a new Ivy Bridge chip.

thanks in advance to any input or experiance with SSD and AL

i know its a dying game but its too late for me to start a new game unless i really have to ( i .e when Webzen pulls the plug )

I don't think that drive matters. From pressing start to servers' list it takes over one minute. I have SSD 60GB Sandisk & win7-64. It depends of my ping more, I think.

It will help a bit , but not rly a lot , Tough you might also think of getting some more better settings on ur PC. Like processor with 32 cores 3.2Ghz idk the name , 16GB RAM.
Will take you like 30sec to load 5th client with SSD

I think it is depend on your cpu speed too. I changed from 2core to 4core and game start faster. 1st acc need about 30-40sec after I press start game and it is increasing each started client loading time about 10-20sec. I've got 500gb seagate hdd, 6gb of ram.
If you have the money to buy an ssd, it is worth it.

hmm, spending lot of money for a so called "dead game" ??

For me the question is: is it important to have (more than) a party of 5 ingame ?

Just LOL, no

-only my opinion-

I dont have SSD but all my Multiclient Acc´s start fast and on same time (no different from 1Acc or 4-5Acc)
I dont think its worth to buy SSD. That money you can put in CPU or Graphiccard!

I think first you should tweak your current system, maybe it will be MUCH better. Here is what i did:
Quote:
Change from IDE to AHCI Mode after Installation

Information: AHCI stand for Advance Host Controller Interface. AHCI is a hardware mechanism that allows software to communicate with Serial ATA (SATA) devices (such as host bus adapters) that are designed to offer features not offered by Parallel ATA (PATA) controllers, such as:

Hot-Plugging
Native Command Queuing (NCQ) -might improve computer/system/hard disk responsiveness, especially in multi-tasking environment

Instruction: There is one way to fix this, although you need to have knowledge of registry editing.
The detailed steps from Microsoft website are as follows:

Exit all Windows-based programs.
Press [Win] + R or take the RUN option from the start menu.
Now type regedit there and press Enter Key to open up the Registry Editor Window.
If you receive the User Account Control dialog box, click Continue.
Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\msahci
In the right pane, right-click Start in the Name column, and then click Modify.

In the Value data box, type 0 [3 is default], and then click OK.

On the File menu, click Exit to close Registry Editor.
Restart your computer
Go to BIOS and enable AHCI, Save & Reboot
Another restart will be required to finish the driver installation.

It is really worth to check.

Answering your first question: no.

Config suggestion:
I think change your secondary HDD to a 7200 rpm Seagate. Faster than 5900. I know it is price a bit higher, but after you using a SSD you will need that extra rpm.
If you do not want to buy a stronger VGA you can buy that PSU.

Get better processor as i said , and higher RAM also , would be good if you get stronger graphic card(over 3.2GHz and atleast 7cores CPU, RAM over 16GB(it takes ur RAM and CPU to do processes on ur PC as starting/playing game) higher graphic card boost`s ur PC(2GB+)). With those configurations and the rest u wrote , and HDD 7200rpm Seagate. ur PC will run like a wind
