The same way communism was good on paper but in reality would suck. There's still a huge amount of potential with reverse engineering and locating files through people but given the financial tag on some of these files, you end up running into more greedy cunts than people actively trying to keep this alive.

I'd love to see a super team of the best people in this community actively working together on one server - not even something like Asura could compete if we took the path to emulation. Eventually the progression with such old server files will run out and the only real chance of survival would be to emulate the game to give us full control but that's a huge projection and the time required might not be worth it (depending on our success of New Dawn)

I could only imagine what we would be capable of achieving but as I said: greed, notoriety and lack of resources are what divides many of us.

We'll ignore Eclipse because they're an outlier we dont need but everyone else could really put something important to the table if only everyone was on the same page and had the same end goal. I think we all want a successful server but I also believe some want to lead that server, work on it or just take credit and do fuck all.

We've seen countless idiots trying to scam over files, we've seen financial incentives dictate progression and we've got a large amount of people that have contributed fuck all but still try to claim otherwise and that's why we cannot all work together.

If we could all say "This is the end goal and reach that conclusion together" then we would have one seriously hard hitting team but everyone has their own reasons and it would cause too much friction.

We've tried to create separate communities for development and only bring in the ones who have tried to push the game on but it was a small handful of us.

Many server owners use this game as a cash cow and bleed their players dry which not only reduces the population per server but damages the longevity of the game itself. 9dragons could have had so much potential but wank owners at the helm saw $ signs instead of passion.

I'd put my hand on my heart and say 70% of the server owners today have no passion, no drive but the desire to financially benefit from this game by sucking what's left out of the already tired community that have supported the game itself, some even prior to Acclaim.

I myself haven't necessarily contributed development other than helping with communities and doing the odd website here and there but I've carried on supporting the game and putting my trust in a group of people that I I genueinly believe could be the turning stone in this community.
