You're forgetting that I'm self taught Korvacs =P
I didn't know anything about MySQL since the 5165 flat databased source was what I started with. I'm making everything MySQL now... and MsSQL sounds interesting. Maybe you can post some examples. =]

There's no real big difference other than MySQL is open-source.

MsSql in general is very easy to use especially with the SQL to LINQ features.

MsSQL is a lot better for business purposes / commercial end, but as far as private servers, MySQL is easiest to use and fits them just well. MsSQL allows a lot more administrative functions etc but not needed for smaller projects.
