The old version isn't updating (says "press any key to close" right after typing "y" and enter). This new version is finding the update but crashing the minute i press Y before i can even Enter.
FYI: It's not about running as administrator. And the old version used to work without any problem until now. I didn't change anything.

Hmm, what does the settings file look like?
Specifically the MEGA links. Are they showing as encrypted in the settings.ini? If not, you can remove the links in the ini file, and then run the updater again. It'll then tell you to specify the links, you just have to paste the MEGA links on the main thread post for Zygor Guide.
Try that, see if you still have the same problem :-)
I haven't had any problems with it myself, so it should work. Tested on both my main pc, and travel laptop. I had to run the updater as admin on my laptop because it required admin rights where I had it. The updater would crash if I didn't.
But of course everyone has a different setup, so might be a bug I haven't found.
The links were encrypted. Tho, interesting, i dont know what triggered the crash earlier but it worked just now. Again, didnt change anything consciously other than the system restart between tries. Anyway, ty for your work.
is there any way to make it so that it doesn't try to search for Classic? i don't play it and it would make my life a little easier to not press n each time

Will have to make a new release to fix that. It is not intended, but I most likely forgot a conditional check that checks if the version is installed or not. Because in the first version it was working fine, so I think I accidently removed some stuff when I was cleaning up the code :-D
It will be fixed in the next version :-)

they are a Trojan:Win32/Zpevdo.B inside ZygorGuidesUpdater.exe
wrong file.... there is no exe.... you downloaded that from somewhere else... this is a zip file you extract to your WoW interface folder. here is the screenshots that they dont contain any virus. i have been using this guide from this site for YEARS now.
