I decided to take enchanting on my mage and noticed a few things that I thought others might enjoy.. so here goes, my first post.
1. Take tailoring with enchanting.. After you reach a certain skill amount in tailoring you can make Linen Robes that add +1 INT.. These can be disenchanted. Infact ANY armor you make that adds to stats can be disenchanted.. This will give you essence, or shards, etc etc..
2. Take the essence, shards, etc.. That you get from disenchanting your robes that you have created and at the early levels of enchant skill, you can just keep enchanting a bracer you made.. over and over and over.. the same bracer.. You will get a pop-up message to confirm that you want to overide your existing enchantment.. Just select yes, and you still get the skill gain.
3. I leveled my mage to level 10, and placed him next to the mailbox in Ironforge.. I than hunt with my main, druid.. and hunt a ton of humainnoids.. I e-mail the cloth over to my mage.. and after about an hour.. I login with my mage and start my work..
By doing it this way, you are increasing both your tailoring and enchanting skills at the same time by only using linen! No need to destroy those nice magical loots you find.. take those to the Auction House and make some cash back! Use the profits if you like to purchase more linen!
Eventaully you'll outgrow your white linen robe.. So you'll have to create better items to disenchant and still gain tailoring skill..
