[WoW] Multiboxing Guide

Hello everyone,

I've been leeching here for over a year and i want to share my multiboxing information with you guys.

First of all this is my first guide here ever. I am an retired multiboxer ( 2100 rating 5v5, Done all heroics, even raided with 5 toons at the same time, and much more).

This is how the guide looks like:
1. How to start
2. Multiboxing programs
3. Team setups
4. Leveling and guides
5. Level 60-70
6. Level 70-80.

How to start:

If you want to start multiboxing you should first think of multiple factors:
1. How many toons
2. How much do you want to spend on multiboxing
3. Is your computer powerful enough, or does it need some upgrades?
4. Do you got enough spare time?

Point 1.
For 2 characters everyone's computer is probably fine.
For 3 characters this can be tricky. I recommend at least 2GB RAM.
For 4 characters i recommend 4GB ram. With 2GB it won't be great to play with.
For 5 characters i recommend 4GB-8GB ram. Its possible with 4GB but when i was playing 5 toons at once, I used around 75% of my 8GB RAM in Orgrimmar or Alterac Valley.
More information over your computer on point 3.

Point 2.
If your going for 2 toons, you will lose:
30 Euro's for the Battlechest (Normal TBC WoW) when you're already using your main account and asuming you already play WoW. And 30 euro's for WotLK. Also after your first free month play time, you have to buy either a month of playtime for 15 euro's with your creditcard, or buy a gamecard for 27 euro's. If your main account has no play time either you can double these costs.

For 3 and 4 and 5 accounts, its just adding 75 euro's per account.

Point 3.
If you're going to multibox with 5 characters. You will need at least for succes:
8800 GTS Nvidia Videocard
a Quadcore, i use Q6600 Intel Quadcore
At least 4GB RAM.
Motherboard doesn't matter that much.
Its an option to buy a second screen. I use 2x Samsung Syncmaster 204b. This way i can put my main WoW fullscreen, and on my second screen 4 WoW windows of 800x600 each. The max resolution for these are 1600x1200 pixels.
Another option too is to buy a keyboard with customizable macro's. I have a Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard, wich has 18 programmable extra keys on the side of the board. This is handy, but don't expect to use all the guys. I only use 6 to 12 keys.

Point 4.
Do you have enough spare time? Multiboxing is timeconsuming, just like playing one character. Leveling 70-80 takes longer then one character. Also its 5 times more expensive then one character, so if you only can play 8 hours per week that wouldn't be a good way to spend your cash. In my opinion

Multiboxing Programs:

I used a program named Keyclone. Its made by one person, and i find Keyclone working the best for me. This is not a promotion, but i have never used other multiboxing programs so i can't tell you how to set it up.

I find the video's of Keyclone handy on the website itself. Here is the link:

The costs for Keyclone are $19,99 US dollar. Keyclone is downloadable, but for the respect of the creator i am not going to post a download link for keyclone here.

Team Setups:

Okay so you have upgraded your computer, have 2 or more copy's of world of warcraft, and got a multiboxing program working and running. Now its time to pick your classes:

Dual-Boxing: Two accounts at the same time
From good to bad:
1. Mage Mage
2. Warrior Priest
3. Shaman Shaman
4. Healer/Tank
5. Dual DPS

Triple-Boxing: Three characters at the same time:
From good to bad:
1. Tank/DPS/Healer
2. Priest/Warlock/Warlock
3. Shaman/Shaman/Shaman
4. Priest/Mage/Mage
5. Priest/Hunter/Hunter

Quad-Boxing: Four characters at the same time:
1. Shaman/Shaman/Shaman/Shaman
2. Tank/Healer/DPS/DPS
3. 4 Ranged DPS
4. Tank/3 DPS

Five-Boxing: Five characters at the same time:
1. Paladin/4x Shaman
2. 5x Shaman
3. Priest/4x Warlock
4. Priest/4x Mage
5. Warrior TANK/Priest Healer/Boomkin 5% crit/Mage ranged dps and conjured food and portals/Warlock High dps pet.

Leveling and guides:

First of all, you need to setup RAF:
There are two methods for this:
Code:
Account 1, non-recruited --> Recruits Account 2 Account 2 --> Recruits Account 3 Account 3 --> Recruits Account 4 Account 4 --> Recruits Account 5 Account 5 - Nothing
That is the expensive way. With this all your accounts can grant levels.

Cheap method looks like this:
Code:
Account 1 --> Recruits Account 3 Account 1 --> Recruits Account 4 Account 2 --> Recruits Account 5
This way Account 1 and 2 can be granted a free level 60.

Now for ingame leveling:

With RAF its easy to quest. 1-60 has the experience needed to level up per level reduced, hard and long quest made short and easy. Also an really REALLY helpful guide is thisone:

Its an ingame guide for both horde AND alliance. It will tell you step by step where to go, in the fastest possible way. No grinding quests are included. Just killing and other easy stuff I have leveled 6 different teams of 5 toons each by using this guide. My 1-60 fastest playtime was 1 day 10 hours.

You can also do some instances, but this is always slower then quests. But they are fun. Here is a link for every instance, and wich levels are needed to enter, and the recommended level:

Leveling 60-70:

For leveling 60 to 70 i used Questhelper. Because the leveling guide for RAF stops on level 60. Here is the download link for this add-on:

Leveling 60 to 70 will be fast and fun. You do a lot of damage with the new gear that you obtain from quests in Outland. Also you get a lot of useful new spells. With 5 characters in Outland you will never need help for ANY quest OR dungeon. The only thing you might need help with is the Arena quest in Nagrand.

Leveling 70-80:

Be ready for the hardest part in multiboxing multiple toons in the journey to level 80.

I dislike Northrend because there are a lot of dungeons and quests that are really hard to multibox. Think about boss-fights that contain a lot of movement, healing intense or tank needed fights. Also multiboxing plus vehicles equals to failure.

The way to level in Northrend is doing kill quests. When you have completed these and think you don't have anymore quests but grindquests left, you should go and check WoWHead or Thottbot if there are any follow-ups after a grind quest, that may contain easy kill quests.

You can't level 70-80 without doing any grindquests. So get ready to collect 50 x a 15% droprate item. It will be hard, but be brave, you will reach 80 if your positive

I hope you like my first guide, if you have any questions feel free to ask them.

I know there is another multiboxing guide on the forums, but i don't like them because some don't contain enough information. Those posts were also my inspiration to make a better one.

Kind regards,
