If you have a BOE item of some sort (that you haven't equipped), and you have a BOP Epic Gem, you can socket the Gem into the BOE Item, and the item is still BOE (socketing doesn't cause it to become soulbound). So you can technically "sell" BOP Epic Gems from heroics/10/25mans.
