1. Apollo, Final Fantasy Legend 2 (Gameboy)
You're probably thinking - Wait, who the *$# is Apollo? This was a boss who was so powerful, you literally couldn't kill him. If you can survive his barrage of taunts, Masamune, and Flare, he'll eventually just destroy himself, because he's pretty much the only person who can. This guy wasn't even technically the boss of the game! Arthas would pretty much have to sit there and listen to this guy talk about his Aegis shield until Apollo let him win to even have a chance.
2. Warmech, Final Fantasy 1 (NES)
Another Final Fantasy boss? Really? If you've never felt that special feeling while you cross Tiamat's bridge in this old-school classic, then you probably never spiked that 1 in 64 chance to run into a fight with this monster. Easily the hardest boss in the game, walking up and down that sky bridge is something akin to throwing rocks at a psychopathic 500 lb gorilla in a cage made of napkins.
This guy is of the "old guard" of game design, he doesn't bother with lengthy monologues or even have any special music, there's no cinematic or storyline, he just straight up starts launching nukes at your party and mauling them. Arthas probably wouldn't even realize he was up against a boss until he was eating 10000 point NUCLEAR's in his face (And let's face it, Arthas isn't packing this bosses only weakness, the little used AFIR spell)
3. Kerafym, The Sleeper (Everquest)
This is one boss that Arthas just wouldn't even have a chance against. If you somehow manage to slaughter the four dragon warders than wake this guy up, you're in for some serious pain. This guy wakes up with the mother of all hangovers and just takes it out on the whole game, traveling through different zones and terrain crushing and killing every NPC and player that he comes across. If that wasn't enough, he only does it ONE TIME on each server, then flies off, never to return because lets face it - you weren't gonna beat him.
Guys like Arthas get really jealous hearing about stuff like this, because he's stuck in an instance all day long and has to keep taking on any pug with a piece of t10 that comes looking his way. Kerafym is one of few bosses who actually says "You know what, I'm not gonna let you sit around and organize 300 of your friends to come kill me, I'm just gonna kill everyone, then peace out." Now that is a boss.
4. Vaelastrasz (World of Warcraft)
This massive red dragon standing between you and the rest of Blackwing Lair did things that most bosses can't do. It's pretty much accepted that bosses are going to kill people, but this one killed guilds. Nowadays on the Wow raiding scene, you can get stuck on a boss for a day, a week, or maybe a bit longer.
This man decided that your progression ended here for months, maybe even forever, as your guildmates start vanishing during raid nights, probably to hide in their closets writing epithets to Shub-Noggoroth as the sheer insanity of facing this nightmare overwhelms them. It's safe to say that if Arthas had to come up against this monstrosity, he'd be stuck in the "tank line" - the gruesome WoW equivalent of the boats hitting the shores of Normandy on D-Day.
5. Ninja Gaiden (NES)
Wait a minute, Ninja Gaiden isn't a boss! Oh really? Have you played this game recently? There's no boss listed here because the whole freaking game qualifies as one. This game is the epitome of "when games were hard". As in, if you can make it past the first level you're probably way more insane than anyone alive today, I'm pretty sure the government rounded up anyone who could beat this game and enlisted them as super stealth assassins.
As for Arthas, that poor guy has been sitting on his ice throne for so long there's absolutely no way he'd be able to maneuver past the throngs of lethal challenges featured in this game, it's likely he wouldn't even be able to make it past the first level.
