Ich beschäftige mich nur mittelmäßig lang mit Mssql, aber hätte mal die Frage, wie man dort einen Remote Connect einrichtet (den man dann logischer Weise auch via PHP nutzen kann)?
Bevor ich irwas kaputt mache, frage ich lieber erst einmal.

Ich stehe vor dem selben Problem.
Lokal heisst die database ja "meinpc\slqexpress"
und man kann unter php obdc_connect("meinpc\slqexpress") machen.
Es ist mir auch noch nicht gelungen das von zu Hause zu accessen.
mssql ist da widerspenstig.
Habe ein voll funktionierendes Spiel, aber will die index.php woander hinlegen.
Den Servernamen und -site will ich eben noch nicht veröffentlichen, aber es läuft.
Es ist aber schwer php remote zu debuggen.
