All is not rosy in the land of the Elder Gods. The plot sometimes lacks cohesion, and the transitions are a tad abrupt. Furthermore, the new duo of protagonists is somewhat bland. Without Norah's witty and caustic interventions to liven things up, we'd be thoroughly bored in their company. Call of the Elder Gods isn't perfect; its narrative is a bit disjointed and its heroes rather bland, but it compensates for its weaknesses with solid art direction and, above all, a complete respect for the player's intelligence. A cerebral, beautiful, and tactile adventure game that proves you can make Lovecraftian fare for a general audience without descending into the surrounding idiocy. And for that alone, we gladly don our felt hats once more. A good game, but is it better than the first? I'm less convinced.
