Age Of Empires 2 - W7 - Color bug fix! [Easy]

Hello!

A lot of people these days uses Windows 7, and as you all know there is a bug in Age of Empires 2, that makes the ground all red, also the water it totaly red, there is a very easy way to fix this!

I will explain it in this step by step guide, if you do as the steps says, you will be able to play without any color bug, and it's just awesome!

Steps


Step 1.

Right click on your desktop, create a new file with notepad.



Step 2.

In this notepad you will write the following one of these things listed bellow, note that if you have Age of Empires 2, Age of kings, you will take the first part, and if you play the expansion use the second part.

-Do not use both-

Age of Kings:

taskkill /F /IM Explorer.exe
EMPIRES2.EXE
Start explorer.exe

The Conquerors Expansion:

taskkill /F /IM Explorer.exe
age2_x1.exe
Start explorer.exe

Step 3.

After you have pasted 1 of the codes above in to notepad, click "save as", also put in "All files" <- this option is under the blank spot where you will enter the name of your new file, the new file could be named anything, aslong as you include ".bat" at the end, for example "Agefix.bat".

Step 4.

You're almost done now, the only thing you need to do is to put this file in to your game folder, mostly in C:/Program/Microsoft Games/Age of Empires 2.

Now you're done, when you want to play the game, use the .bat file you created to start the game, just double click it, and the game will start!


Note : The reason this removes the color bug is because the .bat file you just created quits explorer.exe, and that process is actually what makes the game bug, when you quit the game, explorer will be restarted automatically, no need to start it yourself!

Every Time I tried to Install AOEII it sad "Setup was unable to find (or could not read) the language specific setup resource dll, unable to continue. Please reboot and try agein."
My OS: Win7 Home Premium 64 bit Service Pack 1
I tried to run the game in Win XP mode, but there was the same error. Can you help me pls?

Are you using a Downloaded version, because if you are, it sounds like the file is corrupt.

I copied it from my friend so it wasn't downloaded..
I installed it before I formatet my harddrive an installed windows again, and there wasn't a fking error

I think it would be best if you downloaded it.

That's the link i downloaded it from, it work perfectly, don't think your able to patch it to 1.0c tho.

I am running the following: AMD Radeon HD 8470D.

I have purchased Age Of empires 2 the conquerors expansion and have tried multiple things that I have found across the internet. Disappointingly none of them work.. The start up is perfect, the videos show perfect, but as soon as I reach the main menu the complete screen displays this purple effect witch makes it impossible to read and see what I am doing..

I have tried the following:

stopping internet explorer
doing the .bat file
changed screen resolution and altered sitting on the AMD catalyst controller..

I am lost and don't know what to do..

please help I really wanna play this game so bad

Right click on the .exe -> properties -> compatibility -> Windows 98 / Me or XP
