Hellow dear people,I kept having this shower tought in my head for a looong time now and I wonder sometimes,you know,like why would nowone think about certaint things,maybe its too hard,maybe the ideea is too brave or simply nowone got there.
So,the ideea would be pretty simple but still hard to explain since I have to get every point nailed in order to make sense.
First of all,maybe many of you already know that crypto coins work based on a fixed number,so that you cannot add more coins later to inflate the value of the coin itself,so the true value is set by the demand factor of the coin itself,this is why people who get into crypto love it so much,because once the demand is growing,your 1 coint that you bought for 1 euro could simply jump to 10 euros because many people are asking for it at the same time,so now lets say your 1 "funnyname" coin value will be 10 euros then you can sell 0.1 "funnyname" coint for 1 euro .
Ok where am I getting with this,lets say your private server implements this concept and now instead of selling silk you say,hey people, i have a limited supply of 10.000 silk coins and you can buy and sell on my website silk coins so that other players can enter and buy them.
First question will be,ok what do we do with silk coins now? Simple ,the concept works if its fair for everyone,so in order to play in my sever,you actually have to buy an account with silkcoins.(1 silkcoin would suffice)
Now it sounds like its a premium server for fancy people,but in order for the whole concept to work,you have to put a basic price tag for 1 silkcoin like all coins start,maybe not to greedy, 1 silkcoin = 10 cents , every single human being on this earth can now buy 1 silkcoin and that way create an account.I know that some of you will come up with the "not everyone has a credit card" and stuff,yes I get it,we can come up with different manners after , you can start the server by donating 1000 free silkcoins for the first 1000 accounts and value the silkcoin at 1 cent , you just paid 10 euros out of your poket for the comunity,bravo.
From here most of you can understand that,you play the game,you get items,gold,silk,etc and you want to sell it for real money,so now you go to the website market and you put up , seling 100m gold for 1 silk coin, players will buy the coin with real money and then exchange it on the website for goods ingame.
So to make it clear,there will be 2 markets, 1 for stuff in game witch will work with silkcoins vs literally stuff ingame,accounts,gold,items,silk,items,etc
and another market for silkcoins vs realmoney,can be impletented as donations if you want to dodge problems or cryptocurency but I don't know the steps.
Then,there will be people who will say,hey,my time and my items,gold,etc its worth more so,I think I will sell some silk coins for more than 1 cent or 10 cents , I will rise the price tag to 20 cents,now once all silkcoins idk maybe 10.000 or more if you like but it has to be fixed number literally CAN'T change after thats a huge no no, once every single one have been bought then,the market is influenced by people who want to sell and people who want to buy.
You literally don't even have to play the game,you could simply buy silkcoins only to hold them and sell them,like crypto,the only diference is that here the coins can be used for in game stuff, so if the server goes well and more people join,prices can get really nice to the point where,everything in game has a real value,as long as people invest.
I don't know about succesfull servers price tags,but I heard some crazy numbers and people selling they'r end game stuff for big numbers,so if thats so,if you have people so invested in the game,the coin value will get huge so people will actually be able to make a profit by playing and selling stuff and the server owners don't literally have to lift a finger,because the profit come from,holding a chunk of the coin like from 10.000 the owner can hold like 3000 coins so that he can stack the value and from substracting a commision on every transaction with like 10% or so .
So you literally don't have to "sell" silk to survive as a server,you just have to keep a good server up and running with healthy rules and the economy will settle itself like its supposed to be.
Now people will ask ,the people who understand so far ,"but man,what if the price for 1 silkcoin gets to 10 euros,how will new players join ? " .
Well,if the value gets that high,hell thats amazing for the server,it means its really succesfull and you will want to hop in cuz its a pretty nice ride and if the owner decides to give a chance to new players who are a bit less interestend in the economical side or literally can't have a credit card,he can either donate from his chunk or reduce the 1 silkcoin per account limit , to maybe 0.1 coins so more people can join for less.
Now its not decisive to NEED to own silkcoins to have an account,you can still make your server around it and have people that don't get it play for free like all other servers,but that means that from 1000 people,probably only around 200-300 will use the system since they will need to use it to buy silk and thats ok too.
The concept for me its amazing because its adds a whole new layer of competition to the game,people will start selling accounts and stuff for money really fast and stuff in game will hold a deeper value to people and if you manage to keep a healthy hwid 1 pc limit 1 or 2 and manually make the gold rates and items rate healthy enough,then you are looking to a great new system.
Now this not really ground breaking stuff,might be new for some people and interesting,but the really interesting part its comming now:
What if some amazing developer/developers,I know you are out there, can manipulate this coin into the game and actually have a fixed amount of gold in the game.I hope this is not impossible,but imagine this,if I put a value of 10.000 gold in the game,then every single gold drop on mobs,quests,trade,uniques will be calculated and manually adjusted to give a flexible amount.
So lets say a Manguang mob will drop 0.001% gold from the total amount of gold on the server witch is 10.000 equal to the amount of silkcoin,so the silkcoin will become the gold in game and the gold ingame will become the silkcoin,I am calling it silkcoin but it can be "funnyname" coin , lets say your amazing server will be called Stardust online , so now your coint will be called 1 dust and on the server you have 10.000 dust .
If all dust have been bought AND CONVERTED INTO ACCOUNTS, "horay" , our Manguang will drop 0.1 dust .I hope you can keep up,there will need to be quite some math involved but the endgame product can be amazing.
In order for this to work as intended, 1 Account will be bought for 1 Dust,so once you buy it,you can only sell the account later for a higher amount if you wish but you can't use the 1 Dust that you paid for,unless you MINE it from the server,crypto lovers will understand where am I getting at.
Now to keep things clean,you can only have a REAL amount of dust on the server,meaning that if you have 858 player joined the server then they automatically bought 858 dust in.On the server is 858 REAL dust bought with real money so now our Manguang will drop 0.001% from 858 witch is 0.00858 dust
What does that mean ? it means gold will not be gold anymore,it will hold real value,it will be dust and all the dust you collected can be sold for real money to people who buy dust.Even if you don't care about it at all, having 1 Dust in your inventory and knowing the value of 1 dust got to,maybe 1 euro,it means a lot to anyone.
Now ofcourse the tehnical part its complicated,really complicated,because now,you will have to spend dust to buy stuff from npc,to teleport,to buy trading material for trades,yes I know,it all has to be edited to the skin,but it will hold a very different meaning now,it means every action you make,has a real value,a value that you can validate and sell at any point.
Trades will mean a lot more now,lets say you trade for 0.1 dust and you get a return of 0.4 dust,that has value now,thiefes will actually have good run for they'r money,so are the hunters.Imagine only if the numbers actually get quite crazy,people will actually be carefull at every single thing they do and chose.
So there will be other things on the server that the owner can sell for dust in order to add dust the the server in other forms than acciounts selling,everything will be calculated in % so there will need to be a good balance.
For me the concept its mindblowing if applied,it will come with a lot of work and servers will actually have be balanced and fair in many ways,good policies against abuses,like gold bots or flaws but will definetly give silkroad a completely new direction,posibly a better one than what I see every day now.
I am saying that because I don't like servers where you can open up 4 clients with 4 wizzards and farm the hell out of it till you get endgame stuff,you can't have that in a system like mine.
Now many questions will come,for example,what will you do with drop items,how much will you get from the at the npc,how do you adjust item drop rate and so on,yes,some of them I tought of,some of them no,thas why we can talk about it and understand togheter the fenomen.
