Windows 7 will not fully run with p.servers. It will have memory leaks and eventually crash. How do I know? Because I just came back to vista 2 days ago =P I was on windows 7 for 4 days and I can tell you first hand that the freezing issue will be noticed within an hour after having the game up.. after 3 hours the game will be froze completely or crashed. If you multiclient you speed up the freezing process as well.
tl;dr windows 7 isn't good for silkroad - until they address the memory leaks at least
People really need a tutorial for this? I've been running SRO and the bot fine on windows 7, all you have to do is set the compatibility to windows xp.
Just have to do the same like when you have Windows Vista.... and Windows 7 don't have any problem runing the games lol just with NCSoft and Softonyx...
lynxz that could be fixed by setting sro_client.exe affinity to 1 core in the tast manager processes tab if you are running on a multicore processor.
I set affinity to 1 core.. I'm extremely computer savvy... silkroad private servers just like to have memory leaks with 1.091 for some odd reason... I haven't tried build 7600 win7 tho.. I ran sro on build 7100 win7...

Yeah, it runs.. But play the game longer then 5 minutes and you will experiance EXTREME video lag.. it gets worse and worse to the point of crashing within 20 mins lol..
yep, i have windows 7 64, and the game just sucks, its starts with around 500mb of memory usage ( in xp 64 it was like 200mb) and just keeps going up when its around 2 gb it really starts lagging. I've tried the compatibility mode in vista, xp, etc. and the one core affinity trick and nothing works.
One thing thats strange its that when i'm like killing mobs in just one place the memory keeps put, but when i'm in a town it just keeps growing, its like it just keeps putting every other player info in memory but then it doesnt clean up when there gone.
well if theres some out there with some solution, ill appreciate it.
If you had/have Vista and the private servers worked fine, then you should have no problems on Window 7 as it uses the same kernel as Vista. Just use the same compatibility mode as you would in Vista (XP SP2).
