If you want us to use English or German, edit the rules.
Just making statements like this doesn't change anything.
It's a principle, not a rule.
Every section has an official language - language that the majority uses. This is only a fraction of principles that creates a strong community and keeps it tight. The base principle is simple to say, but hard to follow - no difference inbetween!
This is a must have for every community. The area where all members are equal(Area of equation as I call it) is defined by its purpose. The purpose of this forum is discussion -> rule is applied there.
But those are psychological rules that you must have learnt in your childhood.
To explain the lack of that rule in forum's rules you must differentiate community rules from base community rules. One can state "No other language" in base community rules, but doing it in the community rules would be a very bad move, because:
1) They are public to everyone.
=> 2) The reader would find discrimination in it.
=> 3) Bad move, consequences will follow that may affect the community.

Think about warez and hacks.
Indeed, but by just saying it once, in a single thread, you won't come far.
I would advise to sticky a thread for some days, which asks nicely for people to use English/German.
Also, what's the difference between saying it here or in the rules?
People will read it and get intimidated and annoyed by it, the same way if you would've put it in the rules.
Now back to what I said.
It's not nice for you (InvincibleNoOB and theoneofgod) as moderators (which are community leaders), to just ignore what I say and say the opposite.
It's not a way to maintain a community.
Discussions will arise and there would probably be some kind of flame war.
(Examples: OwN147's post, which I will not be responding to)
By the way, why English and German? Okay, this forum (talking about the whole site, not silkroad section), was/is originally German.
But c'mon, who uses German in this section? 1%?
"Think about warez and hacks."
I didn't really understand you there. It's a real rule, not something you just said.
People tend to learn how to talk, how to emote, how to react from others by copying. It's absolutely the same here. When a newbie joins, newbie copies from us. First posts are CaSe InSeNsItIVe, some in foreign language, some violate rules, but lately this guy becomes the exemplary of us.
Whenever a new guy joins a group, two ways are on the road:
1) The group melts him and he starts to follow their rules.
2) He gets ignored and leaves.
And this is also applied everywhere.
I like this more, I like when we lead ourselves, not because I can't do so, but because I'm not your superior. I'm just like you with more authority, given to me when a conflict like this is open to solve it. Given to theoneofgod to clarify that the majority here speaks English after you made the argument.
If you look carefully - regular users report posts, state the rules most of us follow in this section, say when a thread has to be closed (Windrius is the ideal sample).
This is how I want the Silkroad section to operate and remain in future. If you think otherwise, get a majority that shares you idea and I'll lend you my resignation.
Nobody is restricted to English or German by the rules, but by the majority in each section. They set those rules, because they keep this section alive. Who am I to limit their will?
