Why players are constantly switching servers?
Hello,
I noticed that sro players are constantly switching servers. The average time they stay on a single server is just a month. I wonder why, what's wrong with you guys? What's the point of doing this?
The answer usually is the server is bad, but I can't understand there is no single server worth playing more than a month? I see there are some pretty good servers popping up, but no matter what they die just in few months.
I really want to hear your opinion.

It's my Opinion:
i will make you a List...
1. Greedy Owners
2. Idiot Events ex. (Lucky Stall), (Lucky PT Number), etc...
3. Idiot Features ex. (Godbless), (Permantly Buffs), (Custom Avatars), etc...
4. Friend the GM to win...
5. Bans ex. (Ban because you insulted the GM friend), (Ban because you pk someone), (Ban because you win all the uniques),etc...
- i don't even understand what is the point of banning someone in a private server (dude it's a private server)
6. New Skills ex. (110~130 skills for cap 80~100) which is wtf !!
7. Free Silk And useless gold ex. (Silk per hour), (Silk per events), (Silk Per uniques) and (1 mob killed 1312312321 gold drop) so the gold lost the value...so the trade too
8. Friendly GM ex. when the GM decide to start chatting with the players with an idea (Lets see who's the Boss) so he start globaling sup guys, how you doing, if there's any bug pm me please, then u tell him, then he replays, this is not a bug, so WTF why u asked for it, simply because he want to have the feel that he's important...
and there's more actually but i think you got the idea
so i think all the players want these few things "EASY THINGS AS WELL" but the owners will never understand
1. Simple and understandable system
2. No Custom Avatars
3. No Custom Skills
4. No 99999 Gold drop per mobs
5. No Free Silk
6. No Titan Uniques
7. No New Regions
8. No Online GM
9. No New Events (So-ok & Battle Arena & FTW) is already enough
10. No Custom Things like Wings or Visual things or Pets...
11. No Greedy Owners that open 1 month to collect then kaboom close and re-open with a name of "New Season" like it's a series when it's not
12. No Much Edits
So if you see almost of em are (NO things) which is easier , but the owners have to edit things and things lead to other things till they change the whole idea of silkroad to something that we will never understand "Freaky-Road-Thing"
in few words
be trusted, be simple, don't be in rush, be humble, don't ban players because u have the ban button
that's it, hope that helps the new Servers Owners when there's no new ones, only Close And re-open ones available with new names ofc in order to have the trust again...
The Players used to be cheated in past, but for now they learned year after year, only few people still didn't got the lesson yet and almost of em new people like 13~16 yo

I would like to know, what's your opinion about the bots and IP limit. The last 3 servers I made were almost exactly like your description (Excalibur Online, Silkroad Journey and II CIVILIZATIONS) literally no edits, br files and Silkroad Journey and II CIVILIZATIONS died in just 6~7 months, I managed to continue Excalibur Online for 2 years with average 1500 players, but that was thanks to my aggressive advertisement policy. I spent $450 every month just for the advertisements, players were leaving but there were always new players starting. Back than there were not a lot of servers advertising in platforms such as Facebook and Adwords so I were paying only about $0.01 per website click and about $0.10 per account created which was pretty good. I got 120,000 accounts for only about ~$10,000 worth of ad during this 2 years period.
There were only normal item mall items, I even removed the Magic POP.
But still the average play time of a player were only 2 to 3 months, actually they were returning 5~6 months later after they leave but not consistently playing. I can't figure out what I were doing wrong and the game was just like in your description. I were getting a lot complains that there is no GM activity, that other servers are making awesome events and we are only making official isro events that doesn't involve GM's. They were saying I don't care about the server because they haven't seen me for a year, but actually that was the concept of the game.
I feel like players are always finding something to complain, and I can't figure our what's right and what's not anymore.
So it's possible to make a server which continues years long if you got some really aggressive advertisement policy which is even harder today, since ad prices got almost 15 times higher compared to 2014 when I launched Excalibur Online.
What's so strange is that players are always trying to find something to complain, even tho it's not something to be complained about. We claimed that we are trying to recreate 2008 times of isro, exact duplicate with it's goods and bad sides, but players were like hey this is just like isro, why to play pvp if it will be exactly like isro, even it says that we are trying to dublicate isro in our ads and concept explanation page.

Because they have too many options. Back when there was a single pserver such as ECSRO people didn't switch. There wasn't anything to switch to.
Also because most of them are morons.

True but when we look at wow, metin 2 etc. they got a lot of options too, but they don't constantly switch servers like sro players. For example in wow if a player wants to play oldschool, joins an oldschool server and stays there for a really long timett, but in sro it's like they don't know what exactly they want.

Wow pservers are way more "professional". You never see a GM there and there are no stupid edits.
I also think wow players are slightly older.

- cap 110 (because people like to hunt at black desert)
- joymax rate EXP x5 (because people like it low but not so low)
- joymax rate drop x1
- Joymax rate gold drop x1
- some needed reset scrolls (because everyone asking for it)
- max-stack Originalx10 everything, wish means if 50 max-stack convert to 500 (everyone hates the full page)
- Joymax rate elixirs drop x2
- Joymax rate trade gold x10

- Disable 1~60 Quests
- Guide
- CTF disable

- Bless EU (downgrade trick)
- Add more CD or decrease the probability to KD & KB skills
- decrease the stay time of Skins

- Edit the Roc to 110 and make it twice or so per week
- Edit the Medusa to 110 and make it twice or so per week
- Battle Arena Per Hour (highest accessories through Arena Manager NPC)
that's all i can remember at this moment, as you see with Joymax rate goldx1 the server will be always gold needed in order to buy NPC items like potions or equipments
with trade gold rate joymax x10 , the trade will be the first source of the gold
with Battle arena per hour, u will have so much Arena Fighters because no one dosen't need a good Accessories
with these skills fix Bless & KB & KD & Skins everyone gonna have a fair fight...
with a good elixirs drop rate, you will have the plusers in your side...and they are a lot
with low items drop rate, you will start see the oldschool Stalls where people was stalling with normal equipments...
with some needed reset scrolls, everyone will be comfortable to do mistaks, since he is able to fix it later
that's all i can say atm, but i am sure u can use these things with your things and make something huge.
btw what i have mentioned takes around 30 minutes to be done.
keep that in mind
- no one is joining because of new avatars
- no one is joining because of new pets
- no one is joining because of new regions
- no one is joining because of new uniques
- everyone is joining because of classic system with ranking up able..
btw these things will makes the players stays since he joined but you will still need a lot of ADv. to have new members, but i believe since they joined they wont leave, because you have the system they wants.

I would like to add just a few recommendations where most servers forget the point :
- Random spawn points from uniques, at least changing it once by month. The feeling about hunting uniques, even people making videos just for it is doesn't exist now.
- The academy system has been forgotten because the exploit on it. Limiting the max. points by day or something like that should be considered (Of course, the reward should be considerated since it fits originally with lv. 70 CAP/D8. You can be creative but not exagerating with it).
- Consignment Stall network system. As back in the days, it's more healthy for the server (consider the tax.). I remember consigment was a joymax solution to get ride about overpopulation.
- Keep a few game path options (Choice overload is the negative psychological, emotional, and behavioral effect of having too many options to choose from), forgotten world was a solution to the high CAP (+110) currently, so the 45-90 was an empty experience, all players was playing Temple Water, Cave Job, going to Medusa, almost none going to Roc (too strong even for one guild). By the way, one good thing about roc was the rare stones! fair enough because you have to choose what fits with you than using the same stones always (Max. (9) magic options).

Is there away to be able to to switch servers with a client. I am using http://www.rebirthro.com/?p=mod&mod=agree which I play with 2 of my friends but I have a friend that plays http://www.newanimaro.com/info.php server. and was wondering if I can play different servers without have to download 2 of versions of the game?
