1st dont use a VPS... rent a dedicated server VPS isnt recommend
2nd If you rent a dedicated server i prefer to use the distribution Debian and setup Proxmox on it (to run Windows VM's managed by a Linux system behind it.
3rd you should really have atlease 2 SSDs (without RAID) or 1 HDD + 1 SSD if you are able to install the OS on the HDD (silkroad read and write alot of stuff in to the database this is why you should reserve the whole SSD speed for the database only)
4th u'll need more then 1 GameServer if you wanna run Cap 90++ (min 2 VM's required) so i would choose atlease 16 GiB RAM
5th NEVER use torque, in case u'll collect a hight player amount u'll have alot of problems with torque (torque is from a arab for arabs) same goes for SQL development never hire a unexperienced arab in the end it will become much more expensive to fix all the **** on a running server believe me

look i run server cap 110 on 4gb ram with all of the maps and all of the mobs and its v193 so dont say that i will need more then one Gameserver cuz its not true.
so what you want me to do if I want to open p server (hosting)
1 GameServer is limited to 50.000 objects (mobs, npcs, pets etc)
Cap 110 with ALL regions (without decreaseing spawn rate) will take ~70.000 objects (on starts what means without uniques spawn) keep in mind how often people kill uniques but keep the spawn alive
and btw if you wanna open a server (wich isnt just one out of 10000)

because sooner or later u'll come to your limit and then you have to search for a developer...

ofek you are wasting your time, silkroad is specific you wont have fun here and noone will let you open a server in peace, they will troll you to death.
so in case its a fun project and not commercial you can add me in skype in case u'll need help in future (i wont help you for free but i can give you a huge discount)
