But my feelings are that the sro scene is over.
As the one above me said: 50% of the problems come from the community.
blacklisting, dossing, ddossing, finding magic packets to crash the servers all this greediness will simply not allow to revive the scene.
Furthermore, as soon as someone opens a badass server, where tons of players play, it takes a few eye-blinks until some other **** open the same type of server.
The community then says: "fulfill our wishes, or we will leave the server". Mostly spoiled kids. And then you have the 50%-community-split.. again and again and again. You'll have 5 active players each server again, like it is now.
War is over kids, your teddy died. Go home and seek something else to play.

Let's think about what you said. Firstly, of course it's community's fault, but if I remember well Skalidor, Myth and other bigger servers failed not because of "******" community. Most of you blame only community... But it's the fault on both sides. Most people left these servers after making strange updates etc or not fixing their "features".
If you are coding a program and then sell it. After some time your customer find bugs and what you do? Blame him that he found them?
If you are making a server then you should be prepared for this kind of "situation"...

You clearly didnt run a server. We never went down, we never had corruption and we constantly updated, yet the commmunity simply didnt join because it was a non bot server. Given the fact that there werent a lot of people online at the same time people got bored and thought it was the server that lacked features, when in reality it was just simply lack of players.
It doesnt matter how badass your server is, you will never have enough features as long as theres a small amount of people playing.

Cba to read through all the pages so not sure what other people have said. Anyway my take on the ability to revive SRO and I will call it SRO instead of PSRO because lets face it the companies that run the official versions just fail just as bad and are incapable of running SRO or reviving it so only the fanbase can.
What currently is making SRO fail is the vast amount of servers out there, the fan base is too widely spread out. However when a strong and successful server manages to make a name for its self and a majority of players join, that's when the DDoS starts because people want to see it fail. There's too many kids and bad intentioned people in this community that wish to do others harm and other successful servers. This is why all good servers fail because the owners/team get tired and frustrated with the constant attacks then so do the players so they find new servers.
Yea sure they can get DDoS protection but this costs money and if the server is not making too much money it's hard to maintain this protection, not to mention DDoS protection only helps defend. DDoS protection does not stop the attack, so you can always still be affected by DDoS but its impact is a lot less noticeable but its still there.
If this can stop then successful servers can emerge and actually stand on their feet.

Currently i am making "SSEMobile" free sro emulator which will be almost completly open source. Because of simple construction it will be extremally easy to code and easy to port to any operating system. I think many creative peoples left on the scene and they are looking for something more than just playing another random pserver.
Thats my way to revive sro, hope Essence and you guys will join it.
