Bot or not?

Would you prefer a bot free server or one where botting is allowed?

Do you like working for your stuff or just getting them in time?

Would prefer bottfree server but bottfree server = empty server. Thats how it is..

The main question is how to make the botting less and the active gameplay more attractive? Thats what makes you the server crowded. Waiting for Skalidor tho ^.^

The point is that there is no single botfree server except venture, and nobody wants to play silkroad without a bot (because they can't 'play' without a bot).

So all in all this discussion is useless and will end up in spam/flame

In my point of view light botting (botting without town loop possible) is the way to go.

With it you can go afk for some minutes without the whole party complaining. It gives you more freedom and makes full afk botting impossible. In addition it reduces the number of "second chars" when you have to bring everyone to his grind spot by hand.

Allow light botting is just a way of fairness to the legit players since every smart botter will use keypresser tools at a botfree server.

Yes, I also believe lightbotting is the best solution (but only one client)

...but how do you stop then from looping town-farmingSpot?

It's quite impossible to stop light botting, there is no way of knowing whether it's a 'light bot' or 8 sbot instances goldbotting 24/7. Custom NPCs are quite useless as you can introduce some botting logic to prevent it, IP limit is easy to bypass, the only real way to be sure that nobody is botting is to block every possible third party app, but that's a different story

I'd allow light botting, but nothing more than that. Players just turn into zombies, and there's no communication between players whatsoever, therefore the server will die

There is no such thing as light botting. Theres either botting allowed or forbidden. Theres virtually no difference if you find a botter and ask him, how long are you botting for? Every single time theyll say some low amount of time and youll move on. Besides, what are you going to do? Check every single player on the server? Impossible.
You could make a system that tracks time for you for how long the bot has been running but that would involve patching exploits while at the same time allowing buts AND detecting them at the same time, pointless.

ok then, no, I wouldn't allow botting, just because it causes the community to interact less.
