MSSQL 2005 or 2008?

mssql 2008 as almost all db out there are for 2008 R2
mssql 2005 is good as well, and it consumes less resources than 2008
at the end, is just user choice

is 2008 as easy to config. as 2005? and what about stability? or there isnt any difference between between the two versions.

2005 and 2008 are the same when configuring
both are stable but ofc, 2008 may fix flaws that 2005 had

The more older version you've , the more stability you get.

you can do any updates with both 2005 and 2008 but i suggest you to use 2008 because almost all databases out there are for 2008 R2.
