I was thinking about wow too . Hard to find someone that can actually code and script those emulators.

when the server have no bugs and lot of events, you get easily ~1k players.

Sure, and when it will come to support the server fee then nobody will give a fuck to donate, since why should they donate if they got everything for free?
Don't tell me people will support it, as we both know it's bullshit. She might have the money to buy a powerful machine, but I'm nearly sure she will not spend it so that some random people can complain over a 100% free server then in the end they won't do a fuck to help the server itself.

Forget it. The top WoW private servers that are led by the most professional wow groups are being few patches behind the global servers, and they don't even have the TBC/WoTLK expansions fully scripted, not to mention the Cataclysm patch. I've checked one of the top servers today to take a little break of global servers, and I've got higly dissapointed. What I've seen on the privates isn't anywhere near a little demo of what I'm experiencing on the global servers.
WoW private server scene is one of the hardest to shine on. It is nowhere near as easy as getting players in Silkroad, where no coding is required, just logical thinking and unless you are a member of the top coding groups, you will only waste your time and money there.

Yea, I got to the same conclusion after few days for navigating through the wow communities . It can be something... but .. nothing special .

pointless trying any of those other games, especially Aion now it's gone free to play model. Lots of private servers are dieing out now cos of it going free to play.
Silkroad is probably the easiest to set up and make money on. All others require more work to set up before even making a profit on.
Better off sticking with the devil you know than the devil you don't.

I know people though, that are professionals with many games that I can get some help from c; so knowing the game or not, isn't the problem here for me.

Raid 1? :/ hmm you should go for Raid 5 , it's better with backups etc. But it's an awesome server idd, so make something worth for it, also it's hard to setup a WoW server since there's only emulators out and you probably have to develop your own emulator wich takes shitloads of time thou , but as i said make something fun out of it. Why not setup your own network with 3-4 servers with different caps on each one of 'em?

nah
make something like
cap 70 to 120 serious server with cool rates like x10
and a cap 130 pvp rates 500x
for the first, just start on 70 and keep adding caps when time comes
